I had the pleasure of dropping in to this lovely Oxfam shop this past week when I was on a flying return visit to Edinburgh.I needed to find a place where I could donate many boxes of much loved books and DVDs that I had collected over my 25 years in Edinburgh and the staff here were so welcoming, friendly and helpful.I am particularly grateful to them for their kind assistance during what proved to be a very hard week of shifting so many heavy boxes, wanting my belongings to go to good homes and benefit Oxfam. They are lovely people there doing good, and the shop is charming, with a great selection of lovely things to own or buy as gifts. I can recommend them wholeheartedly.

Grab a literary bargain in Oxfam Books - a wonderful and inexpensive resource for book lovers of all tastes. There's a great Scottish section where you'll find books about Scottish history, art, poetry and places and you can usually find work by some of Scotland's best novelists. Of course all books are donated so stock will always vary. Kid's books are often to be found and there are usually some collectors' pieces for sale. Include a visit among a trawl of Stockbridge's many nearby charity shops, not forgetting Oxfam Music just across the road.

Slightly smaller shop, and a less wide range than the Shelter bookshop further down Raeburn Place. It also is seems a little more expensive. I’d visit Shelter for children’s books (as Oxfam has a smaller selection), but Oxfam does have an excellent selection of art and design books, plus the usual range of fiction and non-fiction that you would expect, and some rare and collectibles. There are maps and prints as well, although these veer to the slightly expensive side for second-hand. Despite these minor criticisms, it’s still a good charity shop, and worth a visit.

Very cute and unique gift items and souvenirs! I love that it all goes to charity as well. It's a nice walk from the botanical gardens if you want somewhere to meander after that (and a lot cheaper than the garden's gift shop)

Great little charity book shop! It was smaller than I hope it would be but the books are in good condition and have reasonable prices (the academic books a bit less)

Called last week to ask if they were taking donations. Yes please.Looked out books ,loaded car ,tried to park only to be told today no room for donations.Totally dismissive and unhelpful attitude.Had I made arrangement for today .No -hadn't been asked to ! St Columba's bookshop at Brandon Terrace is chalk and cheese. Oxfam really don't do themselves any favours. I won't be visiting anytime soon !! Pity.
