Richard James Estate Agents - East Swindon

Struggling to get the things sorted on a rented property (agent managed) since we moved in since February 2023, recently we raised an issue as electric hob and oven stopped working, it's been almost 10 days without cooking now...

My wife and I went to view a property with Alanah Edwards yesterday. We were pleasantly surprised by the property itself which is always a great start. I was extremely impressed with how much knowledge Alanah had of the area and Swindon in general. Her knowledge of the local area of Stratton and her knowledge of Swindon was definitely a deciding factor in us putting in an offer on the property as I always say, you can change a house but you can’t change the location. He was very professional and also honest about the property we were buying and gave us some very good advice to help secure the deal. After our offer was accepted, Hayley helped us see it through to completion. Her communication with us was first class and it was a pleasure to deal with her. From the day of property valuation, accompanied viewings, sale ( which is monitored by ASAP ) and completion all management and staff work at the most conscientious level. We have been very impressed with the quality and speed of Richard James East Swindon office throughout the sale of our house. From the valuation at the start, Alanah has been very professional and kind, and we are well-informed. She works really hard, even outside office hours to answer our questions. Anthony is very helpful and lovely to speak to, which kept the sale process going smoothly. For viewings, Whitney was also very welcoming for the viewings that took place. As first time buyers, I was super nervous about the whole house buying process. We didn't know whereabouts we wanted to live, so had a lot of experience with many different estate agents... Richard James were by far the best! We purchased a property through this estate agent, and it was an awful experience.Prior completion, we were referred to their process completion team/company. AsAp. We don't actually know what they did or do, and from the limited communication, neither did they.The worst was on our scheduled day of completion.Firstly, we were called about releasing the keys to the property we were purchasing. So they got ours and the seller information mixed up.Then we called and told keys would be ready at 2pm. (3 hours after our solicitor advised us they should now be ready)Upon arrival at 2pm, were told the keys weren't ready as the seller was still moving out. So left and went home.Called again and arranged to go back ar 3, and on the second visit 3.15 told again, they were still not available.This could have been avoided with courtesy call to save unnecessary journeys, but they were to busy sitting on social media.When I got home, my partner was on the phone to them, where they told her completely different information, which was incorrect.We finally got all keys to the property at 4.45 after my partner held them to their offer of dropping the keys off.A terrible experience made worse by the lack of communication and contradiction of actions.

I have completed exchange of contracts on a property in Swindon which I found through Richard James Estate Agents. My experience with Richard James Estate Agents right from the first call I made to setup a viewing to the last day when the exchange of contracts took place (total of 5 months) has been brilliant. They are a thoroughly professional business unit where each employee seems to take pride in what they do, it reflects in how they deal with you through the process of buying a home. The Sales rep who helped me with the viewing and offer process was Iain Davidge. Iain was quick and responsive when it came to getting the offer process completed and moving me on to his Sales Progression team where my purchase was first handled by Sharon Clark who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Property I had made the offer on had a chain on it, so Sharon had to keep me posted throughout the process where sadly the first chain had broken down. She always ensured I got the updates on a timely basis and whenever I called she was prompt in giving me relevant information on the progress. Post Sharon left Richard James my purchase was dealt with by Hayley Walden and she was equally excellent. I would highly recommend using Richard James if you are looking to buy properties in Swindon and surrounding areas. A thoroughly professional unit and one of the very few estate agents that I found to be giving you a copy of the brochure for each property with their contact card - a very nice touch in this day and age!
