I went there for a wedding. I love the garden and the warm reception I received. The workers are easily approachable and always happy to serve. I'm planning booking an holiday someday to experience their for and hotel service.

Craxton Wood Grill at Macdonald Craxton Wood
I took my wife for her birthday with our son and his girlfriend for a Pre booked evening meal in the restaurant on Saturday 11th June. The hotel had always had a good reputation and this is why I booked this special treat. It was far from it. The food was good and our table overlooking the lawn was lovely. The service however was very poor, disappointing and well below the standard to be expected of a prestigious hotel chain. The young lad who served us was clearly not an experienced waiter, but never the less tried his best. He was run ragged, although there were other evidently more experienced staff to hand. Our drinks order arrived after the starter after enquiring where they were; a soup spoon and condiments had to be requested, and there was minimal attention to our table. At the least, the young lad serving us should have been better supported by management. We all felt very sorry for him. On leaving, the couple at an adjacent table expressed their dismay on the poor quality of the food and service however we disagreed over the food quality which we enjoyed. We will return to the restaurant in the future but hope that matters will be addressed and improved..

Excellent from start to finish, we have just spent 2 days at this Hotel.We were greeted with a warm & friendly welcome from the Lady on Reception.Our room was large, clean, with a lovely comfortable bed. Tea & Coffee facilties also provided.We had Breakfast & Evening Meal both days & couldn't fault the food or service, the staff were so friendly & the food delicious.They also have a Spa & Swimming pool in the building next door, we didn't get the opportunity to use these facilities on this occasion but I'm sure we will next time.If you want a break, in a quiet area, with lovely grounds about 7 miles from Chester this is the Hotel for youWe drove about 3 miles to the nearest Park & Ride from the Hotel (at Chester Zoo) & used the Bus to go in to Chester which cost £2.00 each - an excellent service that dropped you right in the centre of Chester.The parking at this Hotel is excellent.Thanks to All the Staff for a great stay at Craxton Wood - we'll be back

Visited here on the 15th of October this year with my Partner, I regret coming here thought I was getting Luxury but in stead got a dump for what I paid, I really should of asked for my money back when I saw the Room, should of gone else where, really not happy with the state of the Room and the Spa, some of the equipment was broken, the Spa Showers were in need of repair if not replacing in the Spa the foot Spa's as well, the room is really very poor, when I booked it the room looked a luxurious room online, when I got there I got a shock the whole place needs to b refurbished, the only grace was the staff even they must feel Very Ashamed to b working there, a very poor place that needs reinvestiging in to bring it forward, me personally would never stay at one of your resorts again, due to I feel I was robbed of my money and missed lead at the time of booking really unhappy.GarryBet you don't even acknowledge this post.

Lovely hidden gem, great facilities, treatments was amazing and Spa area was relaxing. Was made to feel welcome, room was lovely and comfortable. Only let down was breakfast which was very busy waited nearly an hour to recieve our breakfast and when it came was cold felt like our order had been forgotten. Drink prices was quite expensive aswell only accepted card not cash.

Did not want to leave review here, but with the way they’ve handled everything I have to. Because I’m gutted. Filthy hotel. There was a roach in bathroom. We booked breakfast 8.30am to be told 9.40 they forgot to put the order though. Told us they’ll refund us as we left with out eating and still Nothing 5 days later. I’ve been trying to call hotel manager doesn’t respond - via email too. Very sad.

Booked an “ultimate spa break” 2 nights with breakfast, evening meal, Prosecco in the room plus an extra upgrade and it’s been so disappointing the room itself was outdated, worn pillows visible no protectors on, dust and spiders in the room, no Prosecco in the room even though it was paid for and no water even though it’s listed for that room, the menu to order breakfast to the room with no pen to fill it out, food has been awful, both our main meals returned burnt fish and over cooked steak, just tasted like merry chef food, breakfast was rubbish scrambled eggs just boil in a bag or microwave they were like rubber, no one booked our meal times and we were messed around with that. One of the servers was quite rude not just to us but the other staff working with her which was really off putting, plus our spa treatments moved to Sunday which affected our plans, not a cheap stay and overall really disappointed with the whole stay definitely wouldn’t return, plenty of other places with better spa breaks or stays for the money.

I was very excited to find my company had booked me into a 5 star hotel and Spa. When checking in, I found that the guy on the desk was sarcastic and tried to talk down to both of us because we was not in a suit. The rooms at one point in time were lovely, but they are dated and worst for ware. I spent £70 on a Burger and a pie small amount of veg and a bowl of chip. The latter turned up tapped in heat and was returned for correction. It is nothing but a 3 star contractor's hotel. Plus side is, the pool and Spa facilities are faultless.
