How Hill National Nature Reserve
How Hill National Nature Reserve in the Broads National Park is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), beside the river Ant. The undrained peatlands store carbon & support rare wetland species, such as the Norfolk hawker dragonfly. There's also a listed marshman's cottage. Good facilities for visitors, though the car park is not big, but it is extended at peak times. Limited refreshments at the marshman's cottage (only ice cream, etc), so bringing your own picnic is advised. Riverside benches, but again if you plan a picnic, bring your own chairs & table. This is a nature reserve not somewhere to expect holidaypark-type amenities. It's a place of quiet contemplation at one with nature, and for that it's great!.

Beautiful place to have a walk, went there with the family and they all loved it. Lovely views of the windmills whilst walking along this river. These are some of the photos I took while on the walk

Always a pleasure to have a walk around here. The scenery is nice and you should see plenty of wildlife. The sunsets are particularly nice if you get the weather for it

A hot day so didn't walk to far. My husband enjoy a very nice ice cream and we looked around the cottage there which gave an insight into the hard life that people lived in years gone by.There was a small electric powered boat taking people thought the very narrow waterways that other boats could not down. Because of time we didn't go on this but others said it was good.

We went on a boat ride through the marshes which was great and very different to a normal Norfolk Broads ride followed by a circuit walk around the estate.

Although I have lived near by I visited for the first time this weekend. The garden by the house us lovely, quiet, peaceful with views over the field to a mill and the water. Toad Cottage is sweet and a reminder of how live used to be. I finished the day with a walk around the secret garden. We were lucky to have it to ourselves. We sat on one of the frequent benches and just listened to the birds and breeze in the trees. I will curtained go again.

One of my favourite moorings on the Norfolk Broads, How Hill is alongside the picturesque River Ant. With excellent mooring facilities, a visit to the nature trail (now dog friendly) is a must. The secret gardens are a riot of colour when the rhododendrons and azaleas are in flower and there is now a cafe to enjoy some refreshments in lovely surroundings. Visit the eel catchers cottage for an insight in a bygone way of life and watch the sun set behind the nearby Turf Fen Mill on the opposite side of the river. What's not to like?

Great reserve, we found the facilities not open in late October. But great autumnal colours

We've been here many times, enjoy the walks + peace + quiet. Only negative is the price of the special ice cream, Ronaldo Norfolk Ice Cream, £2/ 125ml. It's a bit steep. Weather hasn't been great but that's England for u.
