This place deserves to be better known. Why is it not shouting about its fantastic collection of modern art? Items from permanent collection always on display and interesting temporary exhibitions. The well written labels give great insight into the character of Margaret Tait who donated her collection as the starting point. Worth travelling a long way to visit.

Very clean and modern building with a surprisingly good art collection including a pleasant surprise to see works by Barbara Hepworth. Would be really great if it had a cafe since it's hard to get a coffee in Stromness.

A beautiful light, bright space with wonderful sea views. Every time I visit there has been great exhibitions as well as their usual collection. It's a lovely gallery.Echoing someone else's comment: a wish for a cafe - Stromness is so badly in need of somewhere cool and calm for a quality coffee and of course that may bring in even more people...

Unexpected gem of a gallery situated in the town high street, wonderful open space with a wide range of contemporary arts. Gift shop stocked with a wide arrange of books and gifts with pieces by local and exhibiting artists on sale. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Very good collection of paintings and what a view looking outside the window. It is surely worth a visit if you have an hour to spare. The gallery shop has a good collection of art books and nice merchandise to bring home.

Only a quick look in due to time constraints, but a variety of artworks to see, some now with video montages. Tickled with the plug socket drawn on the wall.The woman at the entrance desk was pleasant and had a nice smile. Had read in the local newspaper about the new exhibition and other projects in development at the centre.
