Spanish Learning Club

I have been learning Spanish at the Spanish Learning Club for over a year. The small group sizes and Angela's flexible approach allow for students to work at their own pace and each individual is made to feel that they can raise questions at any time. Angela has created a great community of teachers and learners.

I joined the class in September and was welcomed warmly by the teacher. Our class has gelled well and the learning is fun, helped by the practical exercises, the varied topics of conversation and by the warm support of the group members. I can see and hear how much we have each progressed over the past six months.

I did two courses with Angela and made really good progress. I was a complete beginner and after her classes I gained enough vocabulary and confidence to open conversations in Spain in Spanish. Angela runs small classes where you get a lot of attention and although she has a clear agenda, she is flexible enough to allow conversations (in Spanish) to drift towards what the class members are interested in discussing. I also made some good friends who were also on the course and we still keep in touch a year later. If you want to learn some Spanish, meet people and have some great fun, I can thoroughly recommend Angela’s courses. Disfruta tu aprendizaje!

I have been learning Spanish with Angela for about 4 months now and I always look forward to her classes. She has a good sense of humour and makes the lessons fun and more importantly, I am not afraid to try out my Spanish. Having struggled to teach myself with CDs for about 2 years now, I really feel like I have come on in leaps and bounds since going to Angela's classes. When I go to Spain I can actually make myself understood and Angela has given me the confidence to have a go at speaking Spanish when I'm over there. I also love our little group as we always have a laugh!

My husband and I wanted to learn Spanish and, having tried with very little success a few years ago, were delighted to find the Spanish Learning Club very near to us. We really enjoy the lessons with Angela who is unfailingly encouraging and patient and makes every lesson fun. We look forward to the lessons each week and the hour is always over before we realise it. The monthly club activities mean we meet other learners in a relaxing and entertaining environment - and we learn some Spanish! We’ve only just started on our journey to learn Spanish but, with Angela’s help, are sure we’ll succeed this time.

We were travelling to South America and knew we needed a crash course in conversational Spanish. Angela devised a programme for us that covered all the elements she thought we would need inc shopping, eating out and directions. She also covered some of the differences we could expect in different South American countries. She was very flexible and we completed some of the lessons online.Everything that she taught us has come in very useful whilst we've been away.

I’m due to go to Spain for a year and barely having any knowledge of Spanish I’m glad I joined Angela’s classes. A good mix of conversation, fun games and theory which is very important. Angela is extremely patient and easy going. I shall miss Angela and the group of people I met!

I have been attending Angela's classes for six months. I started with a very basic level of 'tourist' Spanish, and am delighted with the progress I have made. The group atmosphere is welcoming and encouraging, and Angela is very clever in the way she encourages learning through participation: by the end of the class you realise that you have used more Spanish and learned more than you would have done in a traditional lesson - and it's been enjoyable, not least because Angela always seems to enjoy the classes herself! She's also very kind about responding to emailed questions between lessons..

Quality teaching and fun, interesting lessons! I started classes with Johana at the Spanish Learning Club during lockdown and have enjoyed them so much I've carried on. All my classes have been online which to begin with I was unsure about but in fact the format works really well. My classes are a good mix of conversation and explanations of grammar points when needed and have really helped build my confidence with speaking. I highly recommend SLC for anyone either wanting to learn spanish from scratch or to practice conversation. I look forward to my lesson each week and have come to see my teacher as a good friend. Joining this club is one of my better decisions. The classes are well organised and groups composed of similar levels so you feel comfortable. If you wish to learn to speak and understand Spanish from the ground up-this is the one. In summary: the lessons are fun and the Spanish is serious.
