In the years I've been visiting, I've only found items I needed about a third of the time and staff have generally been brusque to the point of rudeness. After today, where I asked about a different colour for something they stock and was treated like an irksome moron because apparently if it's not on the shelves they don't have it (so no stock room, no offer to order it) I will not be going back. Shame, because I like to support local businesses where possible, but not if they're going to make me feel like I'm of no value.

very poor customer service! I've been in a handful of times and everytime either me or someone else in the store asks for assistance and/or advice the person on the till seems reluctant to give it. I'm not sure if it's because i'm a young woman but she seemed very condescending and made me feel unwelcome. Even asking to buy some metallic thread that was behind the till was met as a chore. On my way out one time I noticed a skien of thread on the floor in the doorway and assumed someone had dropped it on their way out so i handed it back to the staff member who was already entertaining herself having a gossip with another member of staff and didn't say thank you. It's disappointing as it would be so easy to improve. At first i thought the lady was having a bad day but apparently it's an ongoing issue. I don't think any customer should ever be made to feel like a burden especially if they are new to the city or have just started a hobby and need some advice.

Always knowledgeable and have everything for sewing or knitting, love dropping in to see whats new in, prices are very reasonable on most things but the ODD item is very over priced. Having said that overall this place is great value for money. Always tell people about it!

Sells different types of craft work. If they haven't got a cross stitch in that you want they will order it for you. Lots of supplies for knitting & sewing. Like an Aladins cave always go in when in town & always buy something, staff are helpful and friendly.

It's a shame it had to come to writing bad reviews online but c’est la vie. The service I received was rude, dismissive and curt. After thoroughly searching the store I endeavoured to ask a worker for assistance on a product. Huge mistake. When asking the woman with woman with red hair, she was rude curt and dismissive, barely taking a second of her time to address me personably or give me any eye contact. “We only have whats out.”Yep, I do understand the basics of how a shop works thanks. However what I was enquiring is that in that in all the 100+ beads you had perhaps I had missed the one I was looking for and you could direct me to the right shelf. Maybe you just currently ran out. Maybe it will in next week. Maybe you could spend two minutes of the time your getting paid for you to do that. Even her saying; “nope I've never seen a bead like that in here before”, would have been helpful. She couldn't even muster that. I had to ask her again. And again. The same curt rude response every time. Bare in mind I had travelled half an hour into town just to get this one bead from this store. I wanted just ensure without leaving, as most people do. Not too much to ask.Upon the third time of me asking her about this specific bead her colleague had to step. She had the courtesy to actually give me the time of day, however upon commentary and her rude manner, I was met but nothing but excuses and justifications. I don't understand how one worker can sufficiently do her job but the other cant. Very interesting. You have an inventory of what must be over 100 products. Guess what, customers will enquire about them.I had to explain why her behaviour was rude and it was like I were explaining to a child. This is telling in and of itself. When I was finally given an apology on her colleagues behalf it was framed within “it wasn’t intention”, or somehow it was “how I took it”. Affect over intent. There was no actually apology from the woman in question might I add, she just intercepted with comments of how “busy” she was.I’ve worked in stores 10 times as large with queues ten times as long and it was still no excuse for me to give bad customer service.“We only have what's out” is - shock horror - NOT a blanket catch all phrase you can throw at every customer, especially not in a specialist store. Queries needn't become altercations if you can do your job.I understand a queue of three people might be stressful for some, but its reasonable not to burden customers with that. Please deal personal issues and your inability to cope with minor stresses in your own time. For some reason she had no problem to give at least adequate enough customer service to the people after me. I wonder why.So, dear lady-with-red-hair. As I’m generous here are some phrases for you to use (that you should have learnt already) in order to not offend your customers.“Im sorry, I’m just with a customer, Ill be one moment,”“I’m not sure about that product, but let me get my colleague to assist you”.“I’m don't think we stock that I’m afraid.”And if all else fails, listen respond and dont be rude.If she still fails at all these the, there are two other amazing haberdashery stores around the market that you may leave feeling uplifted rather than disrespected.

Very rude staff. I went in looking for some wool for a scarf, I asked if they accepted card, response of minimum under £5. When I came to the till to pay, my boyfriend used his card as I hadnt got my purse. The machine said Card declined call card issuer" before he had even entered his pin. He asked to try it again and the woman at the till simply responded "No
