We parked at the church when we visited the castle next door, stopping in to buy a leaflet with information about the castle. There was an outstanding amount of information presented about the local area, from the mesolithic period through to present day, right along the far wall of the church. It was absolutely fascinating. The church itself is a beautiful Norman building, with a unique tower - the windows are defensive arrow slits from the time of the Border Reivers. When we visited, we walked in on a gardening group having a talk. This meant that for a cold winter day the church was surprisingly cosy - two big fan heaters were warming the pews. It took us around 45 minutes to read all of the information on the walls, and then we flicked through a big scrap book of further information. It's amazingly well researched and thorough.Well worth a visit on its own, a friendly community and a wealth of information.

A stunning 11th century Church. So much Norman decoration. Very very old. Largely unspoiled. Just a short distance from Edlingham Castle. Very tranquil. View of church, castle, viaduct and beautiful moors.

Stunningly beautiful Saxon church with lots of information about its history displayed inside. The typically Saxon chancel arch (a slightly squashed semi-circle) is worth the visit alone.

The church has a really interesting history which is described well inside the church itself. The doorway has the 2 carved stones in the photograph.

Lovely little church, tucked out of the way but easy to get too, and parking nearby. It looks closed, but is not. Make sure to visit the castle ruins at the same time.

Lovely little church we ventured into when visiting Edlingham castle.Be sure to sign the book and leave a donation. This place costs £750 to maintain a week.It was a little calm and quiet place set in beautiful countryside.
