Church of St Mark, Broomhill, Sheffield
A beautiful if architecturally odd church, designed by the same person who designed Keele University Chapel. The services are nice and there is enough variety in their services that you can usually find something that sits right with your preferred services. The clergy are genuinely friendly and the different congregations are genuinely welcoming. I'm quite taken with St. Marks and I'd recommend a visit.

Friendly welcome. Service is too traditional for me. Would be ok for those who like this type of service

Lovely church, good acoustics for singing and warm now I've re-engineered the heating control. Look forward to more normal times.

The Church of St Mark in Broomhill is an interesting mix of Victorian Gothic revival and Post War modernism. The church was constructed between 1868 and 1871 but only the spire and porch remain from that original construction. On 12th December 1940, during the Sheffield Blitz, the church was destroyed by incendiary bombs. The church was redesigned by George Pace and rebuilt between 1958 and 1963. The modernist interior is spacious, well lit but sympathetic to the original architecture. There are two particularly striking stained glass windows, the Te Deum east window by Harry Stammers and an abstract west window by John Piper and Patrick Reyntiens, also know for their work in Coventry New Cathedral and the Lantern Tower of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.
