What an absolute treasure of hidden history. Don't get too excited it isn't an amazing castle to look at like some, what is amazing is it's history and hidden location. Great local find.

Lovely little quiet castle ruins with a cute picnic bench! There is a locked gate which you need to get the key from the village shop to open so be aware of that!

Buckingham Castle is situated on a stunning and secluded piece of land, adding to its charm and allure. To access the castle, visitors are required to obtain the key from the local village shop, a small extra step that only heightens the sense of anticipation. However, the effort is completely justified once you step onto the grounds. As you explore the surroundings, you'll notice a picturesque landscape teeming with life. The presence of pheasants and rabbits adds a touch of wildlife to the area, enhancing the sense of being immersed in nature. The castle itself, although partially ruined, still retains traces of its former magnificence and showcases its rich history.Walking through the ruins and examining the surviving structure is a captivating experience. You'll catch glimpses of the past, imagining the grandeur that once permeated the halls and chambers. The remnants of the castle are a testament to the intricate architecture and craftsmanship of another era, transporting you back in time.In conclusion, visiting Buckingham Castle provides a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Its idyllic location, coupled with the opportunity to engage with the local community in acquiring the entry key, makes for a unique and memorable experience. The encounters with wildlife and the chance to observe the vestiges of the castle's splendor contribute to a truly enchanting visit.

Lovely place to visit, we took our dogs there and picked blackberries on the track back to the road. You will also have to get the key for the gate to let yourself into the castle from the local shop.

A great place in a wonderful old village. Castle has a moat and a nice walkway for kids and dogs to explore. You have to get the key to the gate from the village shop. Also check out the whipping post in the village.

Amazing find, well worth seeking out. If the gates are locked the key is available from the very friendly local village store about 150yds up the road. The castle itself is ruins but still very interesting to explore. Easy walk, but a bit muddy in places so dress accordingly.
