0800 Handyman

Very different experience. Two jobs:1 Construct a set of bookshelves, paint and fix it to the wall. All done within a week of request and a very satisfactory result at a reasonable price.2 Replace a faulty bathroom extractor fan (of our choosing). Done within a couple of days, again at a reasonable price.We wouldn't hesitate to go back to them for any further jobs.

I called them for a plumbing appointment and they were very rude. I was asking them a question and they were behaving like they could not be asked. Also £80+VAT for a plumber for one hour even though the job could take only 10 Min in which case they will still charge £80+VAT is a rip off.

I have never experienced such appalling service. Handyman booked for a Thursday at 8.30am. He came and took away the bath tap and said he would try his best to come back that afternoon. Said he was very busy. I questioned him saying I had him booked for that day as I took the day off work so he then said I will be back in the afternoon. At 1pm I decided to call office to follow up and I was told he was trying to find a tap. I was then told he would be back on the Friday at 1pm as the tap had to be ordered and he was picking it up in morning. My flatmate took that Friday off work but she rang me to say the plumbers had arrived but they were looking for the water supply cut off and they could not find it...they removed a tile from front of bath and also removed a panel near sink...my other flatmate returned home at 2pm and the plumber was saying he can't do the job as they can't locate water supply. That evening I come back and locate the water supply in 5mins just by moving a toiletry box in that bathroom. On Saturday I rang the office and told them this and they promised me they would be back Monday at 1pm. Today is Monday and I receive a call from there office to say they will not be returning to the job...they cannot tell me why..when I ask to speak to the manger they put me on hold for 10sec and come back and say he will call me at some point during the day..I get frustrated and am very annoyed and she tells me she cannot speak to me in my tone...I tell them this cannot be legal and she assures me is it legal...I cannot believe that this 0800 handyman can be allowed to do this...absolutely disgusting behaviour...do not book this company..my bathroom left in a mess and they are arguing with me when they should be apologising...And I forgot to mention that the tile they removed the corner is broken..still waiting for there manager to ring with an explanation.So I now get a reply to say they have no job record for me...how ridiculous is this. I find it amazing that the plumber has been...removed tile from bath and opened up a panel and has taken away our bath tap...The manager Matt was supposed to call me yesterday but was told he had to leave for an emergency...our bathroom is still left in the mess...tile left on floor and panel open.Email has been sent as suggested but I've had no response. Another let down. I will now have to take matters to another level.

We use 0800 Handyman for our office and have done for a few years. They are always really prompt and keep you updated. Nothing is too much trouble, they will even pop out and get the bits you need for you. Would not hesitate in recommending them.

Was recommended this firm by a neighbour, they must have got lucky.Booked for midday, turned up late obviously. Despite being given specific instructions on where to park and that they couldn’t park outside the flat, obviously they turned up outside of the flat and surprise surprise, couldn’t park.They then drove off, this is 12.30 and no phone call or update from anyone. Each time, it is ME chasing them.The handyman is then driving around apparently unable to find parking, which is a lie because I can even see free parking from my window, and he’s nowhere to be seen.I am finally contacted by an operator telling me the handyman cannot find the property, which is nonsense, because he was just outside my flat before he drove off.I asked if the contractor had got bored and the operator only just fell short of saying yes. He apologise, but said nothing about a discount on the next job which is odd. It’s now an hour late.I wonder why it is so hard to find people who are good in this industry when it’s never cheap. Very odd indeed. I think a little training and choosing of better contractors would be one tip for this firm.While I don’t like to leave negative reviews, if the company in question does nothing to solve the problem or compensate for the inconvenience. There really is only one choice but to warn other people of similar problems.

This company are very poor, the quality of their work is terrible. We had a mirror put up that pretty much feel off the wall after a year. It's a fairly heavy mirror and needed proper support but was just put up with flimsy materials that should be used for a picture or something much lighter. You hire people like this because you don't have time to do it yourself and you expect proper trades people but in fact i could have done a much better job. They are expensive as well. Take my advice don't use them!

I found this service shockingly bad. I booked on Monday for a handyman to come on Saturday at 11am. I got a call at 10.40am from the handyman on the day he was due to ask if I had any parking permits. When I said I did not he said he couldn't do the job and hung up! I had arranged my Saturday around his visit so immediately called the office. When I said that I was not asked about parking when I booked on the Monday I was told it was my responsibility to offer this information!!! She said the handyman could not find anywhere to park so could not do the job. I said there are many pay and display parking bays in the area but she dismissed this saying he was not going to do the job and I could book another appointment. I will never use this site again. They have obviously never heard of customer service.

Disgracful company. The handymen" are clueless. Twice ive had them out to fit my blinds. I was quoted £80 only to be told it would take time and cost £200 which wasnt a problem

Excellent work from handyman Adam. !0 different jobs involving electrical, plumbing, painting (front door) and problem solving some tricky stuff. All done no fuss, a day and halfs work. I would use them again and highly recommend.

I have used this company several times. Sometimes great, sometimes not. One guy in particular is very reliable and I'm always happy when he comes. However, 2 months ago a different man from the same company came and the handyman broke a glass picture - which the company accepted was their liability. I understand accidents happen, and can forgive the breakage (just about), BUT 2 months later, I'm still waiting for the refund. I have chased them several times. I shouldn't have to chase this often for a refund, and still be out of pocket.
