Completed the Helmsman Course here - was absolutely fantastic. Teaching was thorough, yet hands-off so I learned by doing throughout. Was a lot of fun and the Club is run by a fantastic group of people. Couldn't recommend more highly.

As of December 2020 to now it has been a great experience learning the skills on the smaller kayaks for much advanced people, capsizing is one of the best experiences and taking in views while in the Canal, a must go for learners and schools!

I've been going to Islington Boat Club since I was 9 and with them I have learnt so many new skills, met so many new people (including my gf, not naming names) and been to so many fantastic places on the trips, such as the South of France, Wales and Bude in Cornwall. They do kayaking (both white and flat water skills), Canoeing, Power boating, Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Sailing, amongst other things like Mountain biking and Narrowboat driving etc.The staff are fantastic and friendly, and very knowledgeable.Shout-out to John Freed (staff member) who is one of the nicest people I have ever met.Keep up the great work you do guys!

I completed my 2 day RYA Inland Waterways Helmsman course here recently. Really excellent course, which has given my the knowledge and confidence to get on with my new life on the canals.John was a patient and knowledgeable teacher, and I took the opportunity to ask him load of questions about narrowboats, which he was able to help with. The location is great as they have a private basin where you can't crash into anything (apart from the sharks), and the training boat is good too. When you're ready you'll be up and down the canal, getting tips and advice as you go.I'd recommend this course to anyone who is planning on getting into canal boating, I can't imagine how I would have managed without it!

Did my RYA Inland Helmsman training here. Brilliant course with plenty of time on the helm. For those wishing to boat in London it's great to learn here rather than on quieter waters out of town, so you can get lots of practical experience and advice for how to interact with other boats etc. Youth club was running while I was there and also looked like a great project.
