It is located around 1.5km or 0.8 miles from the city centre, so it's accessible by foot. There is a lift to the platform, a couple of stores and a small diner, with adjacent toilets that are clean and spacious. The station is relatively small, but one has shelter in case of bad weather. You will need a ticket to enter or leave the station, as there are check-in ramps. Police are present too, usually. Outside, there is ample parking available. All in all, a well run little operation.

A busy station, that I travel through often. It has a few options for coffee around the station. And a small well run WH Smiths.If the weather is bad then there is a safe, clean and comfortable waiting room just by the stairs.What make this station special is the friendly staff who are always ready to assist you.

I never usually would rate a station but I had to say thankyou to the young guy who helped me out so much today! I was stranded in Colchester after 8 hours of travel and 3 more to go when my phone had died and my bank card and e-tickets were inaccessible. He charged my phone, printed my tickets and calmed me down in the office and I am so, so greatufl! I suffer very badly with my anxiety and this gesture got me through the last leg of my journey. So thankyou, so, so much! I hope your kindness comes back around to you x

Behind counter ticket staff have always been very helpful, polite and easy to talk to. Technology is not my strong point. Having face to face puts me at ease and adds to an easy trip.

Step free access to platform 3,4,5 & 6 via separate entrance, step free access to platform 1 & 2 is via lifts.

Clean, well mannered staff on hand, within eye sight everytime, happy to help with any questions, I've not encountered one that needs to look at the boards, they normally know the answer off the top of there heads regarding what trains leave and from what platform
