You normally know why you're here so not much to be said about this. My only point to be made is the checkouts is a bit chaotic same queue for self service and staffed checkout, I think, but people went around and effectively queue jumped. So their queuing system therefore is not obvious to anyone not a local I guess...personal pet peeve, a system not signed or obvious unless you're familiar due to regular visits to the store. Standing queuing as you think you're supposed to when you may not have needed to. No complaints on the range available as we got what we needed.

Whsmith side is as standard. Lots of stock and both self service and manned tills. The post office side really lets it down with massive queues regularly taking over the shop. The staff are always super helpful but they just don't have enough of them.

Very helpful and thoughtful staff member, Megan kept an old WHSmiths'Gift Card for me after I dropped it in town after I bought it. It was then found by another person who attempted to buy a book with my gift card but Megan knew it was mine and managed to keep hold of the card for me until I turned up in store the other day - She had kept the gift card for me since May!A massive Thank You, Megan! I was touched by what you did for me and hope you get the credit you deserve!William - A very happy customer! :)

If you want your stationery items to have a bit more quality than the local pound shop, then shop here. They have most stationery items available. Good for your local newspapers. Still one of the best places to search for that next book, fact or fiction. Even better when they have a deal on. This place also houses the town Post Office where they are so helpful.

Unfortunately the queues are horrendous so I do my own via self service including special delivery if need be.The staff are over worked and I preferred the original Post Office when owned by the Crown Post Office in what is now Prezzo and then which moved to what is now Sainsbury Local next door in Canterbury's High Street / St Peter's Street. All the crown offices have shut and moved in to WH Smith and the service is variable I have to say. The good one's are in WWC Tesco store and Coop Deal and Payden's in Deal.I still like WH Smith really for their stationery though they are not cheap. This store is a local treasure it's been here for years.

I went to the post office after work and needed to buy an envelope and a pen before visiting the post office. I was unable to find a simple individual biro and was unwilling to buy a large pack of them just to write out on my envelope. I relented and purchased a pen I found in the discount/reduced section and stood by the post office to write out the addresses. This took me approximately 10 minutes as I did not have the addresses to hand. I turn around to pay and am told that they closed 5 minutes ago. I was not given any form of overhead or personal notification that the post office was closing. They could clearly see me and what I was doing and simple courtesy would be to let me know they were about to close. I therefore missed a post deadline and will be looking into using exclusively online card/delivery services and the post office is simply not good enough.

I love the idea of a shop. To see what you want. I don't mind paying extra. But the shop must have the thing you want. my visit was disappointing, as the two things I wanted were not in stock. Please be more organised. I don't want the high street to die. Our future is in your hands.

Store interior has recently been refurbished as at the point of writing this review. As with most WHSmith the local Post Office has moved in. And the staff are over worked, and not enough, only 2! The auto machines regularly are out of order because there are not enough staff!WHSmith itself has a good range of products at some good prices. I like now how they sell chilled drinks and snacks. The staff as always are super helpful and willing to order in anything which they might not have in.I think of WHSmith a little like the Amazon of the High Street.

A decent bookshop with a variety of popular books and new releases. Unfortunately, the orginization of the books isn't as good as other book stores, so you may be searching for a specific book for longer.
