Maesteg Market (Marchnad Faesteg)

INDOOR OPEN DAILY & OUTDOOR FRIDAYMaesteg indoor market is currently under renovation at the moment so it's closed. When it's open it's a typical little market that used to be seen in every small town. Sadly now so many have closer. There are your usual stalls, & yes, things might be a little more expensive but I don't mind that because using such markets is important to help the stall holders & keep our high streets indipendant traders alive.OUTDOOR MARKETThis is held on a Friday, but that is dependent on the weather. If it's raining ☔ then don't bother going because chances are the only stall there will be the fruit & veg stall. However, if you want fruit or veg then make the effort as they sell beautiful produce. If you can't get to the market on a Friday, then pay a visit to the green grocer on the high street. To be honest, neither isn't much more than buying at a supermarket.Personally I think it's tastier than what you buy in a supermarket. Plus it seems to last longer too.So support your local indipendant businesses before your high streets are full of derelict, empty shops. It'll be too late once they've gone because once they have gone no ones coming back.As I mentioned previously the Market Hall is closed so I'll keep this updated as & when. Will also get some photos put up on Friday as I will be going to Maesteg.

Can't wait for the new town hall to be finished

Like most markets under used small number of shops but of good quality.At present the town hall adjacent to the market is having major refurbishment.So there's no open air market

Vast experience of this market over 40 yrs. It used to have a magical character which has been ruined by Bridged council who closed the historical indoor market to force the stallholders to take their new expensive shops outside. Which they've done, reluctantly. Its all very nice and clean and modern.....but will it last? Time will tell. There is a Friday outdoor market here which is good when the weather is. Having said all that, Its still worth s try. You may be surprised by seeing a twinkle of magic returning. But not thanks to Bridged council.

Nice and easy shopping

Lovely little market. Although very different from what it was 20 years ago it's still worth a visit. Make sure to pop into Casey's cafe for a cuppa and a fry up. You won't regret it.

Mainly visit for charity bookshop. Large selection of books and all paperbacks only 50p. Also great family butchers and a specialist food shop with high quality farm produce.

Not open as a market as it is being refurbished. Several shops wit quality goods.

Sadly another example of a once bustling outdoor and indoor market that once drew large crowds to the town (especially on a Friday) that's been ruined by experts" within the council. The indoor market is currently closed
