Good range of documents, including the Meteorological Archives. You need to book in advance. The cafeteria has closed, but there are now some vending machines.

Absolutely brilliant place. Café open before you go into the library. Open 10:00 - 17:00 on the dot. Sadly not open on Monday's and most Saturdays. I have learnt so much here and has enriched my life. Thanks.

Seems like a nice place & rather big too.

My husband and I made our first visit to Devon RO in Barnstaple on Friday. Like all Record Offices we were faced with a maze of books/desks/computer screens and didn't know where to start. However, all the staff there were amazingly helpful and when we explained why we were there and what we wanted to achieve (history of our house) they were amazing! Without us asking they brought to us various folders and books to look at, advised and then showed us what was available online and answered all our questions. We were truly grateful for everything everyone there did and made our visit so easy. Thank you to each and everyone who was on-call on Friday.

Plenty of help available if needed. Friendly. Lots of space to spread out documents. Everything was waiting for us when we arrived. Brilliant!

The records here are great and you can find out a lot of history. The staff are friendly and helpful.
