East Hill Park
Bit of s dump, public park not cared for well by local authority.Anti social behaviour not addressed by police. Not the sort of place to sit and relax in, just a short cut between the road and the flats, or access to Riverside Walk. All very sad as it could be a lovely space.

East Hill Park
Could be such a nice park, but sadly seems to be full of junkies waiting for their next fix. Other than this, it's a nice little park.

Just amazing. Really. Spent a day waiting for my coach to Stansted just a couple of days ago. Time flew by. Amazing atmosphere!! Beautiful scenery. Loved it!

East Hill Park
Not really a park for small kids or kids that aren't very good at climbing. No slide or normal swings. Definitely not the greatest park

I love the long riverside road to connect East Hill park and Castle park. It's suitable for birdwatchers, dogwalkers, bikeriders, and runners.

East Hill Park
This park is popular with dog walkers and bike riders as well as runners. It's next to a river (not a very nice view) where there is often ducks and swans. It has a small playground for children and plenty of open spaces. Plenty of benches to sit down but it is next to a busy road. It's open 24/7 but there's no car park.At the other end (near leisure world) has outdoor exercise equipment and you can access lower castle park. The woodland (Tommies Wood) which lies alongside the River Colne on Riverside Walk, just outside the gates of Lower Castle Park will form a living memorial to those who lost their lives in the Great War.

East Hill Park
Beautiful green space aside the River Colne, so often a good spot to encounter Swans, Geese, Ducks, etc. The riverbank paths are either grass or paved & well maintained, (despite what other people have recorded here). East Hill Park adjoins Colchester Castle Park, & the route towards is clearly marked for the benefit of hikers & mountain bikers...

East Hill Park
A beautiful park in East Hill, Colchester. Relaxing children's playground and a small field to chat, read or picnic with your family. A dozen park benches scattered around the park. A short track runs alongside the banks of the Colne River. At about 3.00pm on 12th July 2021, I took a stroll along this short track. The tides were coming in from the sea. I spotted one of nature's rare miracles happening in East Hill Park. In front of me were hundreds of grey mullets, ten deep, swimming slowly towards the East Hill Weir. A similar number of grey mullets were swimming in the opposite direction. I stood in the Park and enjoyed this miracle for more than an hour. As the tide receded from the Weir, I watched the shoal of grey mullets return to the sea. The following days on 13th July at 4.00pm, and 14th July at 5.00pm, I watched the shoal of grey mullets return to East Hill Park. From the 15th July to 23rd July 2021, no one sighted the grey mullets in East Hill Park. I cannot explain their absence. So strange. Today, the 24th July 2021 at 1.00pm,I arrive at East Hill Park. I was pleasantly surprised to see the shoal of grey mullets again. Where did they swim last week? Some photos and videos of the grey mullets can be seen above, by clicking Photos and Videos.Occasionally, I spot a kingfisher between the weir and East Hill Bridge. A new resident. 3rd August 2021.I spotted one Grey Mullet, only one, at the East Hill Weir. The Mullet decided to remain in East Hill when the tide receded. Several birds regularly visit the park and river, including the Great Crested Grebe, Kingfisher, Cormorant, Little Egret, Common Tern, and Grey Wagtail. There are several families of Mute Swans, Moorhens and Coots by the weir. Some visitors have also spotted an otter in the river. 15th May 2022 at 12.20pm .Spotted a large shoal of Grey Mullets at the East Hill Weir today.Hopefully, the same shoal tomorrow.Thank you.
