We went twice in a week whilst on holiday in half term ( end of Oct/ start of Nov 2023 ) Food was delicious on both visits . Lamb and mint pie was oozing with melt in the mouth chunks of meat. The fish and chips was top quality and the syrup sponge was very more-ish. Lovely atmosphere with log fires cosy rooms and friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit .

Came here with family on our Norfolk Holiday, most of us had one of their pies or burgers, the pies were quite frankly the best pies we've ever had. The burgers were huge and very nice also! The chips were like chip shop chips and went very well with the burgers. We had a big bowl of veg between the three of us who had pies. There was plenty of room either under the tables or beside for the dogs to relax. Would 100% recommend and will return if we are in the area.

Really nice pub! Visited for a drink on a weekday afternoon so quite quiet but was really lovely. Was able to sit out in the garden. Will definitely come back and try some food next time.

Didn’t stay but did have a fabulous dinner. Mushroom walnut and stout pie was a revelation and my mum’s fish pie had lots of big chunks of real fish. Would definitely return if in the area again. Looks like a great place to stay as well.

Been here for food many times. On latest occasion though, was a bit disappointed with meal portions. Food quality good but a few carrot batons and a few peas in a very very small terrine was a real pity. Could have made big difference if there had been a small veg terrine each. Cost is minimal for these veg portions. This is however the only time been disappointed so willing to put it down as a one off. Lovely pub. Lovely staff. Will still be visiting again in future.

Pies were pretty good but not exceptional. The gravy was pretty tasteless and the same for all pies (perhaps a pea gravy?). The mash was very poor; undercooked and had obviously been reheated. This is about the most average food I could describe, and for a pub that self proclaims to be a ‘pie pub’ I expected good pie, mash and gravy at least. Everything was fine, do not expect to be wowed. We won't be coming back.

Didn't stay, just popped in for lunch. We hadn't booked as it was a Tuesday lunchtime in November, so assumed we wouldn't need to. Thankfully the staff got us a table for three, ordered two starters three mains and a dessert. All the food was top quality, mum's fish and chips was enormous and she even liked the mushy peas (which is normally a no go). The pub is apparently know for its homemade pies, and I can see why! Beef and Binham Blue cheese pie is probably the best pie I have ever eaten. The pub filled up quickly with bookings, most of whom ordered pies. Lots of punters asking them to sell them individually and it would be great it they could, but I understand the logisitics of why they can't.My advice is to book, no matter what time, day or time of year it is. They are pretty much fully booked during peak times, and heard the staff only offering 5pm-6pm or after 8pm on a weekday.

We only ate here so couldnt give rating on rooms. Best meal in a long time. Lovely tranquil garden with well spaced out comfortable seating. Ample parking, clean toilets. We had sausage and mash, and steak and ale pie, both were good. Pie had a lot of very tender meat. Nice array of veg. Thoroughly recommend.

A wonderful experience. The room was well appointed with everything you could need to enjoy your stay. We ate in the pub for dinner, which was also excellent, tasty food, great service and very reasonably priced. The location is perfect as a base to explore Wells and the wider Norfolk coast. Highly recommended.

Came for dinner with my girlfriend on a Saturday night. The place itself is very pleasant and rustic, the staff were very polite and prompt. We both had the steak and ale pie and it was delicious, good portion size no shortage of anything. Great value also.
