This is a small resturant, maybe 10-14 tables depending on how they are arranged. We we lucky and were able to make same day reservations for 4... would suggest making them at least a few days in advance. We each ordered something different and all tasted everything (families are fun that way). They were all excellent but the venison stood out on it own.. wow. Staff was very professional and knowledgeable. Fancy, nice views, not overpriced and fun... that's hard to roll up into a single package but they do it! Give them a try!

Great unassuming bistro next to the river. Nicely decorated with a great feel. We had the smoked salmon, fish and chips, scallops and scampi linguini, and the filet of salmon with crispy skin on a bead of mussel and pea risotto. Our party of 4 agreed it was the best meal we've had during our visit to the UK. The bill with 2 glasses of wine was 106£. I highly recommended it.

Wonderful restaurant! We got there at 5:30 when it opened up and it was full by @6. The service was superb, but the food was even better! Presentation on par with the taste. One of our best dinners, if not the best!

McBain's is THE place to go for a great meal, fresh, and locally sourced. The food is incredible and the staff is so friendly! I highly recommend the venison. Be sure to make a booking though, the restaurant is very intimate and books quickly.

We had a terrific meal at McBain's. The sea bass and salmon were both cooked perfectly. This was the best dinner we had during our two week trip.

Cute little bistro with salty prices for dinner after 6.30pm. Bear in mind there is a minimum spend £19 per person (mains only, dessert will not count). Starters are delicious, prawn tower is a must try.

I read the reviews for this place and decided it was worth booking. When we walked in we were asked straightaway, have you booked? Not, good evening, how are we etc, let me show you to your table. It was, your table is there. A small 2 seater table tucked right in next to the bar! I'm 6feet 4 inches and it was snug to say the least! There were plenty of other tables not being used that would have been better for me!! A long wait for the food, 2 very small pieces of bread and a dip of some description on the side! The food was fine when we got it, despite some confusion over a sauce I asked for as an extra which the young lady tried to explain was given to my wife's dish instead. Had to ask where the toilets were. Not brilliant and not great prices either but hey ho, it does seem that Inverness is pretty damn expensive wherever you go for a bite to eat.
