Plenty of shops, busy and bustling, but always looks like it could do with a bloody good wash down.

Unfortunately the money spent on new paving stones appears to have been wasted with shoddy workmanship. Already the rainwater is laying in puddles in some areas, due to the stones not being levelled properly. Nice to see the new seats have been christened by the pigeons!!

The the Longmarket is a square made up of mainly eateries and pubs, with the Central unit having a terrace. There (currently April 23) is one empty unit facing the town which was a shop.Either side of the Longmarket and to the rear are a few shops which include a vintage clothing store, a Tony & Guy salon, temporarily sited job center, Slaters, and a couple of other indy shops that pop up and disappear every now and again. There is The Shakespeare pub which is in a lovely period building which has its own garden. There is also the city arms which is housed in a similar aged building. In the actual terrace there is a bar of the same name, which is a popular evening with the youth and has mixed reviews on safety and security. On the whole there are a few nice little places to visit and meander around, but apart from the Shakespeare there isn't anything special.

Canterbury is always good for a day out window shopping. Loads still to do and see, plenty of places to eat and drink for all budgets. Try the stalls great value and independent owners.

Great town centre in the heart of Canterbury. The cathedral looks spectacular at night.
