I love the circular walk up the made up road, beyond the gate, to the flat plain at the top with great views and usually plenty of New Forest Ponies. It's an ideal spot for dog walking and family picnics, with plenty of space for games.

Huge open natural sandpit. Stunning to look at but dont go in a heatwave! Ouch! Nestled away from a small ford - great for kids all round. Lovely starting point for a New Forest wander and back to the ford for an ice cream.

Many parking spaces around but unfortunately no public toilets. There is usually ice cream truck around

What a great place - rain or shine, hot or cold (especially snow!)Visit in October to see the acorn-munching pigs, come in January when it snows for the best toboggan ride in Dorset and in spring/summer for a tree swing, forest walk and visit to see the ponys

Amazing place for a walk! When you have small kids really cool to play in the sand, we took some toys for the sand and our boys really enjoyed it!
