Absolutely gorgeous!! Hands down the best fish and chips we have ever had - and we’ve sampled a lot! The food was all so fresh, tasty and not greasy at all! It was cooked to perfection and portions were huge! Staff were also lovely, thank you!

Best fish and chips I've had in years! So good I got the commemorative mug too. Incredibly friendly proprietor who was more than happy to have a chat as well. Would certainly recommend 10/10

A lot of fish and chips shops get the “best in the world/UK/county/town” status but The Mermaid really does live up to the billing. Everything was amazing. Only problem is the queues can also be immense, but worth the wait!

A trip down memory lane for me. We used to get our dinners there when holidaying 40 years ago, and the food was always good. It's nice to see that things haven't changed. The chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, as a good chip should be. The cod was great and the batter crisp and golden. Top marks...

Probably the best fish and chips I have had in years. Well cooked food that was perfect, good size portions and very friendly service. 2 adult fish and chips, 1 kids fish and chips and 3 soft drinks for £25. A few tables to eat in which we usedI will definitely come back next time I'm in Barmouth

Busier than last year (after the positive Times review). Still great fish n chips. Expect to queue due to popularity. Queue moves due to efficiency of staff.

Best fish and chips we had! The batter was crispy and so were the chips. We bought home to eat and they were still hot and crispy. I guess coz it’s in a box and not wrapped in paper. The fish was chunky and not overcooked. We ordered 3 pieces of cod and 1 portion of chips.

Maybe we were just unlucky. We got here on Wednesday at noon. There was already a queue standing outside. We read the online reviews and we're excited to eat here.Service was fast and nice to us. We got 2 fish and chips, onion rings and peas on the side. The portions are enormous and the onion rings were tasty. The star of the show however disappointed. The fish was coated in a tasty batter but the meat itself was really dry. Not succulent or jucy. It was a shame since everything else was good. Maybe we just got 2 pieces which were in the back of the batch too long...
