About the Business

Welcome to The Castle Bude - The Castle Bude | Welcome to The Castle, Bude’s Heritage Centre. Our Grade II listed building, one of Bude’s finest and oldest, is nestled in the sand dunes overlooking Summerleaze Beach and runs alongside the Bude Canal. The Castle, which it was named when it was built in 1830, is steeped in history and is a great place to visit whether young or old. It’s imposing, yet elegant and unaltered, Victorian façade houses the Heritage Centre, Art Galleries, Café and shop. Our rooms and exhibition spaces are light and airy and sympathetic to the Victorian period style. Our lawned area and bandstand are the site of many community events, open throughout the year. A warm welcome awaits you here at The Castle.

The Castle Bude
Good venue as usual, with some interesting art, a nice walk around the grounds. Cafe was limited to coffee and cake. Overall it's a good but basic venue with various art and other events.

Castle offers not just a stunning vista but also hosts a fascinating museum inside. Plus, its proximity to the charming Bude canal adds an extra layer of allure. A perfect blend of history and natural beauty in one place!

The Castle Bude
I was disappointed as I thought it was a castle,Turns out it was just a home, albeit an elegant one, and it now has a cafe and conservatory attached..I misunderstood the wording..It's the castle, Bude... ...basically a big house. It had some historical information inside, and it was interesting, but not enough to make me want to stay longer than half an hour or to return again.

The Castle Bude
Lovely cafe also art gallery and craft displays which you can purchase the all the goods and paintings are done by local artists they are therefore quite expensive but there are smaller prints you can buy which are less expensive .re photos the black and white one shows the Sea Pool when it first opened in the 1930s

The Castle Bude
Great place inside and out.A quick walk around outside gives a good feel for the place before going insideThe interior and galleries are worth at least an hour though younger children might find it a little boring. The gift shop offers the usual themed stuff and the café is clean but isn’t too pricey.Partly dog friendly in that they are allowed in the conservatory but not the castle proper. There are some parking spaces in adjoining streets but these fill quickly. The nearest easy car park is adjacent to the information centre a few minutes walk away.

Wonderful little free experience right on the beach in Bude. Lots of Cornish mining history and war history. Small cafe and gift shop inside. Well worth a visit, you don't get much for free these days
