John Shepherd Estate & Letting Agents - Redditch

Honestly probably one of the worst rental experiences I’ve ever had, rented with John Shepherd with my partner from October 2020 - April 2023 throughout this time we had numerous “property managers” who constantly palmed problems off onto one another. We had so many issues with the house dating back to Jan 2021 which included horrendous rising damp in the kitchen which then lead to black mould throughout, the tiles in the kitchen were constantly cracking due to water underneath them, we had water drenching the carpet around the entry to the kitchen due to a massive dip in the concrete underneath. I logged these issues in Jan 2021 and when we left in April 2023 these issues were still ongoing. Lauren Foster who quite frankly is the rudest estate agent I’ve ever dealt with told us that it was our fault that is was damp due to us not heating the property 24/7 which is just laughable considering the price of energy at the moment oh and we didn’t ventilate enough even though our bathroom window was always open to try and dry the constantly horrible wet damp bathroom out. If she’d of had it her way we should have had the heating on full whack and all the windows open in the middle of a cost of living crisis. When we left they then tried to charge us £350 for redecoration which was honestly ridiculous considering the decoration in the house was absolutely fine bar a few general wear and tear scuffs which the landlord should expect to incur when you rent a property out it’s like they expected it back like a show house… I’d like to add as well the house was not clean when we moved in especially the kitchen which was filthy. They also tried to charge us £18 for one light bulb and a shower curtain when leaving… I honestly couldn’t believe it where on earth are they plucking these prices from!? we had to go through a dispute with reposit which worked in our favour in the end however the whole situation was just a complete an utter farce. The way Lauren dealt with everything was a joke I constantly had to chase for updates and the emails I received from here were rude and unprofessional I will never use them again and am so thankful to finally be rid of the whole situation.

Michelle and Emily ( Hope I've recalled her name correctly) and Jamie were beyond helpful. The empathy and support to secure a short term tenancy from these ladies was overwhelming. Following tragic circumstances I needed to find alternative accommodation and quickly, I had been to many other agents and found them to be cold, unhelpful and inform they had no property despite them being advertised. This team helped home a family in need. I am extremely thankful. To say they went above and beyond does not come close.

Me and my partner Jacob are impressed with the customer service that we was given!!! Shout out to Michelle. So professional and such a lovely person. She made it possible for us to move into our first home.Would definitely recommend john shepherd to anyone looking to let or buy a property!

I wrote a scathing review last week and must now apologise, I mistakenly thought that it was the agents that were at fault but it has now come to light that the landlord's mis communication was the problem. Lauren was extremely helpful and sorted out the problem in order to get our full deposit back.

Emily was fantastic throughout my move and made the process as easy as it could possibly be. John shepherd are very lucky to have someone like her.

Was booked to view a property, left city centre to arrive back for viewing. Called agent to find out where they were, was told they had been trying to call me but I kept declining the call, when I advised I hadn’t been called & I wouldn’t have declined their call as I’d been driving to viewing, was suggested I was lying. Told me they’d emailed me to ask if I was attending, they had emailed me at 1655hrs whilst I was driving to viewing due at 1715. The call I made to branch was 1720. Was then put on hold whilst she went to check with Olga who was meant to be conducting viewing, came back on line to advise Olga was at another viewing! Was then asked as an afterthought if I wanted to rebook for another day…. Absolute shocking service!!! No show. Called a liar. Then lied about where the agent was. If this is the agent you are considering using to sell or let your property, I urge you to seriously reconsider as this is the customer service they provide.
