Always pop in here when I'm in Rye. It's very small in a cobbled road. Inside is so peaceful. I like to light a candle and say a prayer for family, friends and the whole world, gaia. It's like a reset button. I come out feeling rested and peaceful.

Lovely smallish church, very calm and peaceful atmosphere.We enjoyed looking around and sitting quietly for a while away from the town which was very busy on a hot sunny summers day.

An exquisite church built in Spanish-Romanesque style. A church of pre-reformation England, the Church of St. Augustine, sent in 596AD to convert the Anglo-Saxons; the Church of St Thomas a Beckett, Archbishop of Canterbury, martyred inside his Cathedral in 1170AD. Everything about this Church reflects the history of the re-emergence of Catholicism after three hundred years of suppression. It is beautiful in every respect with an especially remarkable rood cross and marble altar and surrounds.
