Fantastic little pub as you go into the valley with a splendid view. Never had a bad meal here. Since the last time we came there has been a menu change and we thought we would try it on a night we wasn’t sure what to eat. We definitely weren’t left disappointed! If Vegetarian I highly recommend the Vegetable Lasagne it was to die for, nice and hot! Then to top it all off we had the best service from 2 of the finest gentleman who I was told are very regular pub dogs. Loved having them sit with us!

Called in for food, was told only food available was Beef Dinner or Veg Wellington due to staff sickness, this didn't matter to us as we were on the hunt for a Sunday dinner. Was very nice, beautiful cooked beef, top Yorkshire pudding and lashings of lovely gravy.

Have eaten here a few times over the years. Always good. And they were doing food all day, which is a bonus when your walking and don't know what time you'll finish.

As much as the location is lovely and the staff were friendly, to be honest the hotel was extremely disappointing. To start with the cleanliness, when we went down for dinner at 6pm was still breakfast leftovers on the table in the restaurant and the floor looked like it hadn't been hoovered for days. The food not good, the calamari to start it wasn't calamari, but some frozen paste wrapped in batter with not a hint of taste resembling calamari. The beef patty in the burger was very overseasoned with pepper and ruined the taste. This was not the mayonnaise as the chef suggested when we constructively pointed out. The rooms where way too hot, couldn't open the window for fresh air. Even if we could open the window, we were on the main roadside, so the traffic would have been too loud to sleep. To top it off, the roof terrace and our second room looked directly onto the huge rat nest located directly above the kitchen. Seeing this in the morning put my husband off having breakfast, I hope this place gets checked for infestation regularly, which seems not to be. I have attached some pictures of the non-existent calamari rings and the rat nest in full view.

We stopped here for food and a drink after a walk in the hills.Easy parking - we’d spotted this one on the way in to our destination earlier in the day. Dog friendly, the pooch had a drink and some biscuits and felt sufficiently relaxed to totally pass out. The burgers were good and filled two hungry bellies nicely. Thanks guys.

6 of us stayed at Millstone Hotel for 3 nights. Highly recommend it. All staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were really comfortable. Best nights of sleep for ages. Food good and plentiful. Breakfasts very good. The guy who cooked them gave patient, good humoured service with a smile and remembered every detail of requests. Nothing too much trouble.

Seriously bad stay. Room was filthy, I mean really filthy. Springs coming through the mattress. On day 1 they were turning people away as they sent the Chef home. On day 2 took 2 hours to get some food. Manager was taking orders, cooking food, serving food, manning the bar all on her own. One group went to the chippy and brought it back into the restaurant otherwise they would have gone without food. Heating was broken for the whole stay. Paid a premium price for a low budget stay and service. Photos don’t lie, and this is just 4 of them. You have been warned.

We checked into Millstone on Friday 1st December 2023 for 2 nights, on arrival we were greeted by Paul, so friendly and made us and our dog very welcome, nothing was too much trouble, that was the same for all members of staff throughout our stay. Food was lovely and they even offered to do a dinner for our dog on our first night (dogs were treated just like us humans). Breakfast was nice too and plenty on offer and the hotel was so cosy and warm. Had a great night sleep on both nights and the beds were very comfortable. There are beautiful walks from the doorstep. Thank you so much to all the team for making our stay so relaxing and will definately be returning.

I popped in on Sunday for a Sunday roast after a walk in the peaks. There is a good size car park so it was easy to park and upon entering I was greeted with a warm welcome. The food (I had the calamari followed by the roast) were very good but sadly I couldn't manage a dessert as I was so full.I really liked the pub, it's got the cosy feel of a country pub which was lovely after having spent the morning outside.I would recommend, and when I'm back in the area I will be making a return visit
