Abbey Meadows Outdoor Pool

I love this pool but it’s hardly ever open and it’s really barely heated at all.On top of that the showers are cold (womens side can’t speak for mens) and the changing rooms are pretty grubby.The changing rooms are so small too, no proper disabled changing that is obviously accessible.There is a room between reception and male changing but doors at both ends are always open so is that really a disabled changing room?Do disabled people not deserve a decent private changing area?

We booked for a swim for all session however couldn’t possibly swim at all because it was so overcrowded. At least half of the capacity should’ve been reduced to create any room at all for swimming. The changing rooms were disgustingly dirty, covered in mud on the floor. Separate male and female changing rooms make it awkward going as a group to use lockers. We only stayed in the pool for 10mins before getting out as it was so full. Would not recommend and will never return. Staff unfriendly too.

Abbey Meadows outdoor pool is really nice. An ok temperature if your swimming lengths, probably a little cold for small children.Well maintained, with good showers & changing facilities.

Great for splashing about, cooling off and also for teaching toddlers to swim as there is a nice beach - like shallow end. If you want to swim properly, not the best place as it's an L-shaped pool & it's just too crowded - especially at the weekend and while the weather is so hot.

Haven't been here since the 70s. It was a pleasant experience but parents kept taking there children to deeper water to let them swim and jump in Well out of there depth so it made it quiet splashy and bumpy, I thought they should of been in the 4/5ft area. Would go there again if there were less children.

Good big park, fenced off areas so u don't have to worry about dogs, geese or the river if your kids are playing.Good splash park area. Near the wild geese though if that worries you. My kids like them but they seem friendly.Nice river to watch the ducks.Toilets. Ice cream man. Nearby parking.Also great for nice long walks.

I had to give this one star as even though it's half way through the summer the pool isn't open and isn't due to open until 25th July. What is the point of having a nice outdoor pool paid for by the public and not allowing the public to go for most of the summer. I have been looking forward to going here all winter and now it's summer and over 25 degrees I still can't go. I 'm very disappointed

I had a very uncomfortable situation in the changing rooms at the swimming pool today.Firstly I'd like to say how lovely the pool is and how clean it all was, however when I popped back into the changing rooms with my 6 year old daughter we saw an elderly lady fully naked drying herself in the middle of the changing room. My daughter was very confused and uncomfortable as neither of us knew where to look!I mentioned it to the members of staff ( 2 young women) and they did not seem bothered at all. I just put it down to a weird experience and went back into the pool with my daughter. When we had got showered and got changed (in a cubicle, I might add!) we saw another lady in the shower naked, washing herself. I told my daughter to look away again as it's just so inappropriate for the lady to be doing this. I then went and spoke to the members of staff at reception again, and again they did not seem bothered nor willing to want to talk about it, they actually turned away from me and went round the corner of their reception where I couldn't see, while a male member of staff spoke to me. He said in the morning and evening adult only sessions then they allow it but it shouldn't be happening when there are children about and he would put a sign up. He basically insinuated there wasn't anything else he could do about it as it would mean entering the ladies changing room, my answer to that would be to send a female member of staff in then! If only to just say could the ladies use a cubicle or shower in their bathing suit during the times when children are about!I'm just appalled that this is basically accepted infront of children! The staff didn't seem to care and clearly the ladies deem it okay to appear naked infront of children. I don't feel comfortable bringing my child back here again if this is what I can expect. Such a shame as the pool is lovely. Just too disturbing and inappropriate in the changing room for children.

Lovely addition to kids play with the splash park not far

Water cold and the grass area could do with some TLC.Changing room could be cleaned more throughout the day.Life guards act like they do not want to be there. Some not even watching the pool others Shouting or whistling at kids for have fun ( young blonde girl was horrible & rude )But pool fabulous for all ages with the shallow walk in area . Great for all abilities.
