My daughter and I are buying a book and when we paid £50 they won't accept it and the girl on the till looked at us because we're Asian's. Then the manager came I asked what's the problem with £50 notes he said it's too big. It's very racist because they were looking at us as if they don't trust the notes were real. Very poor excuse and why not accept the cash when it's money from the bank? It's really annoying! Not going to Waterstones in Macclesfield anymore!

Look its Waterstones! Its a store set up by someone who loved books, staffed by people who love books for people who love books. It smells of books, if you listen carefully you hear the rustle of books.Hard to tell what could be done to improve a Waterstones store, short of having Terry Pratchett's librarian looking after it. Sadly this isn't a possibility. Ook!

A smaller Waterstones, but the staff were helpful and friendly and they have a good children's book section.

Macclesfield branch. Nipped in on Good Friday to spend a voucher I'd been carrying around for 2 years. Bought a cool Death Star jigsaw. Friendly staff.
