I took delivery of my third order of 40 bags of sharp sand and a sack of aggregate, delivered by Jakub (correctly spelt) via Wickes' Cricklewood branch. Unfortunately, upon arrival, Jakub was surly and unhelpful, excelling only in being a nightmare Jobsworth who seemed pained to do his job. Jakub, initially, sat like a Buddah on my brick wall, morosely citing 'health and safety' as a reason to justify not even attempting to deposit the bags of sand and aggregate between and over two parked cars on my side of the road. At one point Jakub even threatened to return the entire order to his depot when asked if he'd at least attempt to crane the order between/over the two parked cars and onto the end of my path (something that was done with expert proficiency and good cheer by his colleague, the lovely Jerry, TWICE the previous week in exactly the same circumstances). Jakub's maudlin personality and lack of basic customer service delivery was distinctly memorable for all the wrong reasons. Just as noteworthy, was the withheld number call I received afterwards from an unidentified female purporting to be calling from Wickes Delivery, asking me if I was happy with my order. I confirmed that I was, but that I was unhappy with the delivery driver's behaviour and that I would not be submitting a favourable review. Notably, that was the first time a member of staff has called me for delivery feedback instead of sending me a link. I suspect Jakub had had time to reflect on his behaviour afterwards and attempted to circumvent receiving a deserved negative review, by having the branch call me instead. Meeting Jakub once was enough for me. Come back, Jerry - you are a credit to your employer and an absolute pleasure to deal with!
