Hertz Car Hire - Oxford - Osney Mead

Booked a car directly through the Hertz app and paid up front. Had a conflict so I tried to phone - no phone number in the confirmation nor on Google. No e-mail address either. Showed up a few hours after my estimated check-out time and they said they have no car for me. After talking it through, it turns out they never actually had a car at this location although they happily took my money on the website.

The one star is for the lovely young woman behind the counter who served me. Otherwise, it would be zero stars for the fact that the car that I reserved (and paid for!!) months ago was not available. Apparently this branch advertises and sells bookings for small cars despite not actually having any small cars in their fleet. Shameless false advertising. Now I'm stuck with a car much larger than what I wanted, driving in a foreign country, leading to a higher risk of damaging the vehicle and no doubt being charged exhorbitant repair costs if that happens. Why aren't rental companies legally obligated to provide the service as advertised and paid for? Will not be using Hertz again. I feel bad for the frontline customer service staff as well, they are getting shafted by their management - having to constantly tell customers that their booking is meaningless must be a pretty stressful job. Just rubbish.

I felt transported to a different century. Even though everything was booked in advance, the staff took half an hour to enter god knows what into the system. Then the card machine didn’t work so there was an error and we had to start from scratch. Everything is just slow and inefficient. So come with lots of patience handy.

On top of the unfortunately quite normal understaffing and long time for pickup, they claimed, via email after drop off, that we had dinged a rear view mirror. This was well after we had left and they had already done an in person inspection of the car in front of us and told us the car was all good on drop off. Abysmal customer service dealing with multiple folks over email trying to explain that a simple photo of a ding on a door, shown well after we had dropped off the car, does not actually prove anything and that if they thought we had damaged the car, that should have been flagged during the in person inspection. Avoid this place at all costs, and if you must rent here, insist on them signing off in writing that the car has no damage when you return. Lesson learned for us.

Hertz Osney Mead is on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Oxford. Was unable to book online so walked in and booked.Hired a Yaris (hybrid) and was impressed with the car's performance, economic petrol consumption, and ease of use. This rental did not come with GPS.Cost for four days hire, full-to-full, unlimited mileage, and without extra insurance, GPS etc., was £265.Dropped a star because the online booking experience was frustrating. The only reason I made an extra effort was because Hertz Osney Mead was recommended to me.The office could do with sprucing but the process to hire and return the car was fast and efficient. Happy customer.

I rent a car on sep 5 2023 for one day, the ask me a deposit of 200 pounds, todoa sep 13 they didnt return my money yet.I need my money .Be careful

WARNING ! The customer service is deplorable! And they even want to claim me money for no reason.After 10 minutes of driving the car they gave me, the flat tyre symbol turned on. I had to leave the ring road and make an emergency exit through a bus lane (safely) and parked the car in a parking slot.1) the tyre was flat and nobody could tell by phone what to do for insurances. We called 5 different numbers and all the answers where nonsense. I had to pay the repairs myself.2) I warned hertz I had to go through a bus lane and if I receive a fine it will be easily contested ( which have been understood by the council and instantly canceled.) But hertz still gave me a fine of 45£ for administration fees ( forward an email for 45£... ).Now they want to sue me because I explained them I technically don't received any fine from the council, and it was an emergency situation ( probably their fault by the way as they didn't check the tyres, but they still want to get those 45£!!!If you have a single issue. Hertz will be extremely unhelpful watch out!

There’s so many negative reviews that I have to post about my positive experience. I booked my reservation the day before. Even though it was an electric Vauxhall on the website, they gave a polestar which was a fantastic surprise. Car was great but the customer service was beyond what I have gotten anywhere else. They explained everything about the car, gave suggestions based on where we were heading as well. This was a bonus as we loved visiting Blenheim Palace and were not aware about it. One tip, while they will refund a taxi, you are better off walking because the motorway between oxford railway and the side of Hertz is closed to vehicles for repairs. We did not know about this so walking would had been way faster.

Awful customer service. I was charged for fuel" even though I paid for the £37 charging fee upfront. Got ignored when I was trying to dispute an insurance claim - I paid for super cover. Emailed them multiple times over the last 2 months and communication has been slow and painful. And the problems were still not resolved. A VERY BAD COMPANY TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH :("

So far, it has been a great experience. The rental agent was probably the nicest I have ever encountered.
