Cotswold Hound Dog Walking and Training

We and Disney (our now 15 month old Labrador) have been working with Barnaby on a 121 since Disney was five months old. Disney was a very excitable puppy with very little self control but now thanks to Barnaby’s skill and knowledge Disney is far more focused. Barnaby and his really helpful session notes gave us the knowledge and skills to work with Disney’s “fizzy” nature. Disney has also benefited from sessions with Barnaby and his dog Odin who has helped Disney to react to other dogs in a more appropriate way. Barnaby is always good-natured, humorous and positive. The sessions have always been fun for us and Disney (who was always very pleased to see Barnaby!). Whatever challenge Disney produced Barnaby was always able to give us a solution to work with. We would highly recommend Barnaby and will really miss our time together.

Fantastic 121 puppy training with Barnaby and Sue. Great wealth of knowledge and advice. Came away feeling much more confident, calm and positive.

Boo, my 15 month old black lab and I had some 1 to 1 training with Barnaby. She comes from a working line has a great nature but really needed and something to stretch her mentally and physically. Some gun dog training with Barnaby was perfect, he has a great knowledge and understanding of all kinds of dog training, and knows exactly how to cater for the individual dog and owners goals. After every session Barnaby covered everything we had worked on, and exercises to keep progressing, also answering any questions or additional advice as needed. We also did some lead walking in town as Boo is really very excitable. That was so useful and I can already see the difference it will make as we carry on with all that we’ve learned. I can’t thank Barnaby enough for his help and guidance with Daisy my 12 month old black lab.Daisy is a strong and powerful pup who is also extremely wilful.Barnaby’s expert training skills and a deep understanding of dog’s behaviour patterns have helped me take control and provided me with tools and exercises to work through.We took a pack of 4 one hour lessons that we spread over 6 weeks. Barnaby followed up each lesson with helpful reminder of the exercises we had worked on and a few video examples.I am sure we will be booking more time with him in the future. A great and very worthwhile helpful experience.

Can’t recommend Barnaby and his team enough. We have been working with him for around 4 months as our rescue Heidi had a hard time adjusting to home life after coming here from Hungary. His patience and knowledge is very reassuring and insightful, looking forward to working with him again in 2024.L

My name is Lily, I was the ‘fizzy’ Labradoodle who went to puppy training with Barnaby, it was great, I loved every bit! It was often cold & wet on most Saturday mornings in a muddy field, but I didn’t mind. I learnt to sit and wait, to come when recalled and a lot more (my mum and dad learnt a lot too, they gave me lots of treats if I did it right….) Signed up for the Puppy Training course with my miniature Schnoodle puppy Toffee. Barnaby was an amazing trainer, friendly, supportive & gave lots of useful tips on recall, loose lead walking & bonding etc. Also booked a 1-2-1 with Barnaby which I found invaluable in building confidence in becoming a good dog mum. Toffee loved it too. Highly recommend!

We’ve just finished the 8 week puppy course with Barnaby/Cotswold Hound and our Vizsla Ginny has learnt so much (as have we!)The tips, tricks and games learnt from these session have had a hugely positive effect in all aspects of our life with this crazy pup! Barnaby really dives into why a dog behaves the way they do, how the little games and tips work and why they work. This means that we have been able to pre-empt Ginny’s behaviour and know what signs to look out for and be pro-active rather than reactive.As a result of all of this, Ginny now knows what we expect of her and is really thriving with her training and, most importantly, having fun while doing so!The weekly emails summarising what we went through on the Saturday were really helpful and they’re always available on WhatsApp to answer any specific questions or issues.We’re already looking forward to bringing Ginny back for the Gundog classes when she’s a little older.Thanks all!

We’ve just completed the beginners gundog course, the change in Bertie in just 6 weeks was amazing and the course gave us good foundations for our training and stimulation. Barnaby was very considerate of my dog as he is a vocal pup who’s in the peak of adolescence!
