Highland Discovery Tours

A short time ago my family arranged a tour through Roberto drive us on wonderful scenic tour across the highlands and stopped at several distilleries such as Tomatin, Singleton, Glenmorangie. Roberto was very professional, knowledgeable, and provided a great sense of humour. I would gladly use their series again! Even Andy, who was originally communicating with us, had met us personally at Singleton to see how things were going. We could not have asked for a better experience. I would glad recommend them and more! If our travels bring us back to Scotland, I would gladly want to use their services again. Thank you Roberto and Andy for a fantastic tour.

This was the most expensive and most disappointing thing that we did in Scotland! I would say ABSOLUTELY STAY AWAY! I am a history major and thought we would have information and history on each stop but this was not remotely the case. Apparently if you have Andy as a driver it is well worth the time and money, but if you do not stay AWAY! We basically had a taxi cab driver take us to several places, not the ones we signed up for on Skye Isles. He did not know anything about the Isle or much of anything about Scotland. Several of the places we stopped were not opened as we were early. The driver offered to stop so we could use the washroom and that was considered one of the stops. There was barely any time at the Eilean Donan Castle to do anything but walk around the outside. The way back was almost terrifying as the driver needed to get back to so something else. When we reported to the owner that we did not receive what we signed up for, he basically told us we were wrong. We learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson! We also learned that our Bed and Breakfast host could have set something up, so instead of using this tour talk to the people that you are staying with first!

Andy is absolutely wonderful! I came to Scotland in early January 2023, and his tour was certainly the highlight of my trip. He is incredibly responsive, fair in pricing, and accommodating. In fact, you really can’t beat his pricing for a one-on-one private tour, including pick-up and drop-off!My travel had delays which affected my initial time/day I booked with Highland Discovery. Andy was incredibly kind and understanding when I asked if we could reschedule to the following day (we did have winter on our side, but I firmly believe Andy would do what he could to help accommodate anyone!).I appreciate so much Andy coming out to Whitebridge (which is pretty remote with lots of single-track roads) to pick me up early in the morning, to make the most of sunlight hours. He was so informative about everything! On time, reliable, and so friendly!He truly made sure I had an amazing time and accomplished all I had hoped to, and he goes above and beyond - taking amazing photos and videos of/for me and even making a stop at the grocery so I could pick up a few things! Andy even helped me make a list of things to see and in what order on the next leg of my journey to Isle of Skye - and offered his help if I needed it (as a winter storm was coming). He really puts his heart and everything into what it does, and it doesn’t go unnoticed - thank you Andy!I know there are a lot of options for guides in the area, but I promise, you will be so happy you booked with Andy! By the end of the tour, he felt like an old friend! I will definitely book again when I come back!

Andy offered us a fantastic tour of Inverness and the surrounding area! We were treated to local culture, history, humor, and amazing scenery- we even had incredible weather one day - thanks for throwing that in at no cost! Andy provided us with a very comfortable van and treated us to some nice diversions, including a delectable chippy! I would highly recommend touring with Highland Discovery Tours - especially with Andy at the helm!

Andy was very knowledgeable and personable. We thoroughly enjoyed our day tour of the Highlands. Andy had a few special touches that made our trip memorable, such as surprising us with a friendship drink during one of our stops. He also was very patient and exceptional well with my toddler. What a fantastic tour we had! I would highly recommend Highland Discovery Tours. Andy is a great ambassador for his company and Scotland; so responsive to all our questions. Our driver Roberto was very professional, prompt, personable and attentive. The vehicle was spotless and comfortable and the entire day was most enjoyable. Roy took us on the Island of Skye private tour. He was fabulous with his knowledge of Scotland and the island and surrounding areas. We couldn't have asked for a better guide. He stopped at many more places than we expected for picture opportunities of spectacular views, short breaks, lunch, and shopping opportunities at a local distillery. We were very pleasantly surprised at the stop at Eilean Donan Castle that we were given enough time to tour and shop at their gift shops. He pointed out many great landmarks and historical points of interests and a few great waterfalls along the way. Roy made it all worth the long day it took....he picked us up at our hotel at 8:30am and made sure we understood the length of the tour, then returned at 6pm. Highly recommend this tour by this company!!

Andy was fantastic. We hired him to take us on a day trip to the Isle of Skye. He knew all of the popular must-see locations as well as some secret destinations that aren’t as well known, but just as beautiful. We didn’t have the best weather, but I could tell Andy really cared and was trying to make sure we still had a great time. He was polite and fun to talk to. The car was comfortable. He did such a wonderful job that my husband and I hired him to take us to some other spots around Inverness a few days later. As an added bonus, he takes great pictures too! I feel like we had a great time, but also made a new friend.

As part of a family vacation in June of 2023, my mother exchanged multiple emails with the owner/operator Andy and booked a private distillery tour for our time in Invergordon/Inverness. Upon our arrival, we were met by our driver Roberto just outside the docking area of our cruise ship. He was the epitome of professional but extremely personable and polite. When he brought us to his clean and well kept can, he also explained to us that since the distilleries in the area didn't open for another hour or so, he took us on a very scenic drive through the countryside before our incredible stop at Tomatin distillery. That stop at Tomatin was incredible and got to learn so much about the history and intricacies of Scotch and the Highlands where it resides.Following that tour, he then took our family for a drive further into the country side and took us to a little rest stop where we could get one of the best views of Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle without having to deal with masses of tourists as part of a detour." I booked the Speyside whisky tour. I was picked up at my hotel by Angel in a nice Range Rover Evoque. Ángel was very friendly and helpful. There were waters bottles in the back. We started the tour as advertise. However after our first stop things took a turn. We were told distillery list was changed and shorted by one. This was very disappointing as we confirmed the tour the day before. We got on the phone with Andy to get a poor excuse. We end up visiting 3 distilleries rather than the advertised 4 distilleries. Lunch was another disappointment. There wasn’t a plan to stop for lunch on 7 hour tour. We end up stopping at a gas station and having a cold sandwich while standing. I didn’t feel like the whole experience was properly planned and they didn’t delivered on why was advertised.
