The statue was unveiled by Lord Craigavon in the presence of more than 40,000 people in the 1930s. The statue was cast in bronze and placed upon a plinth, a reflection of that period. Almost a century later, is it a monument out of time and place? So many groups, so many voices. Historical value only but not worthy of a day trip.

A historic statue erected while the man it portraits still lived. As a Swede visiting a couple of friends living in Belfast, it held no significance to me as an oblivious tourist. However, it did make me search for him online later on.It's not worth visiting on its own. It's beautifully erected in front of the Parliament buildings, which makes it an addition to Stormont rather than an exhibition of its own.

Erected in November 1932, this controversial statue of Edward Carson is cast in bronze outside Stormont House. The inscription on the base reads By the Loyalists of Ulster as an expression of their love and admiration for its subject". He died peacefully on October 22nd 1935."
