Although a small reserve courtesy of the farmer and free of charge with parking for about 4 cars the supplied Hide is perfect for field viewing.Quite impressed.

Found this lovely hide in passing. As I was walking down the path into the screened part of the path I was greeted by a little owl flying straight at me.Lovely peaceful hide.

Arrived on Open Farm day which was lovely ly. Popped into hide and along with the herd of cows a red kite landed in one of the trees across the pond. Shelduck, a lapwing, moorhen improving its nest, greylag and mallards.Sadly only had phone so no red kite pic.

They hide is beginning to show it's age. Interesting place to see wildlife, often slow but it does produce surprises. Often used by people on holiday in Norfolk, many use it is a stop if they arrive early for their accommodation so not often empty.

Nice little spot, free entry and parking, marsh harriers and little owls seemed easy as are grey partridge from across the road. Apart from those 3 species this quick summer visit failed to produce anything of interest. The area around has major potential for quail and even corncrake so worthwhile checking if passing by.

Have been to the Abbey Farm open day today. An absolute pleasure, and perfect, sunny weather. The chalk meadows are full of wildflowers, my passion and delight, from wild parsnip to small scabious, delicate fairy flax to hoary plantain. Not forgetting the delicately scented Lady's bedstraw and flowering grasses, especially my favourite quaking grass.Sky larks provided a soundtrack, along with many other bird songs, and for those with good hearing, the sounds of grasshoppers and crickets.Thankyou, the Cross family for allowing me to wander the pathways of your very special farm.

Small, but a great place to just sit and watch. Hares put on a great show as did a Barn Owl.
