Absolutely fantastic stay, the shepherd's hut has everything you need and the additional touches such as the welcome basket and note made the stay even better - so thoughtful!Location is fantastic, loved being right by the river and plenty of seating to sit out and enjoy. It is very quiet and secluded.

Great spot so peaceful and quite. The shepherds hut was very well equipped and comfortable. The welcome pack was excellent and very well received. Despite the weather we had a fantastic 4 days. No problems whatsoever, especially when we found the chairs ( in the cupboard under the very comfortable bed.

Directions and information provided made the retreat very easy to find. Although it was a wet October, the surroundings were very atmospheric with the constant sound of the river that was visible from the front door to the pheasant that wondered past one afternoon. A lovely breakfast selection was provided that was more than ample for my 3 night stay. There were all the utensils you would need to prepare meals which I took advantage of as I mostly stayed in the hut to be way from the world.I had wanted a quiet, restful getaway and that was what I got: there was no wi-fi to distract me; there was village a nice walk away away for papers; and a cosy hut to read and potter in.Christine was very helpful when I had a small issue and the booklet left in the hut provided all the information needed for the hut and the surrounding area.I'd definitely recommend for a restful glamping experience.

Our stay at Rowan Retreat was absolutely amazing! The hut was beautiful and cosy, and we really enjoyed the special touches like the fresh bread and homemade jam that was waiting on our arrival. The location is great as you're not far from pubs/shops etc... And the communication with Christine was brilliant, she was so helpful. Thanks for making our first post-lockdown break so special.

Fantastic stay at the Rowen Retreat shepards hut, Christine was on hand when needed and great communication all round. The breakfast hamper was a nice touch and very well received with fresh bread and homemade jam- very thoughtful. Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi did not reach our hut (the last one) and we had no signal whilst in the hut- although amazing for a digital detox! Would stay again and have recommended to friends and family :)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rowans Retreat. Totally quiet and peaceful. Enjoyed watching the local wildlife and listening to the sound of the small river. The facilities were great with everything we needed during our stay. This was a definite improvement on a previous stay in a shepherds hut in Wales. Would stay again without question.

Fantastic stay in a wonderful hut in an idyllic location. We were after somewhere peaceful and remote but also within easy access to the Lakes which is exactly what we got with Rowan. Walking through the fields of sheep to get to the hut with panoramic views of the countryside added to the joy of the week. Neat, clean and tidy in the hut and a great outside space and terrace with fire pit and bbq. After busy days in Grasmere, Ullswater and Bowness this is the perfect place to come back to, open a beer and sit outside and listen to the sound of the river just metres away. Really nice touch with the welcome hamper-cheese, bread, butter, eggs, milk, cereal, biscuits and delicious fudge were all waiting for us. Highly recommended.

Myself & Partner Recently stayed at the Rowan Retreat Hut, we love glamping & have stayed at many places all over the UK, but the quality, attention to detail, booking process and communication with the hosts is the best I have ever seen in any accommodation like this. It has EVERYTHING you could ever want other than WIFI or Phone Signal but not having those things is so refreshing, it's the perfect digital detox. This Shepherds Hut is a lovely tranquil place to spend a few days. The hut itself is superb!! Warm and cosy, clean, spacious, luxury bedding, very comfy bed, immaculate bathroom which is inside the hut with toiletries provided (so no trekking to to the toilet in the dark), now normally a ‘self-catering’ place like this requires a ‘kitchen bag’ with washing up liquid, tea towels etc.... not here!! Absolutely everything you could need was here... just no sugar, but we bought some and left it there for other guests to use, we even got a pint of milk and eggs in the fridge waiting for us and some amazing apple juice! gutted you can only buy the apple juice in the lakes as it is locally made cos I could drink it every day we also got some lovely goodies of coffee, tea, bread & homemade jam which is to die for. The outside area of the hut is so lovely and you are a stones throw away from the river, there is a BBQ and fire pit, Picnic table and Lounge chairs! All you need is sunshine... and luckily we got 2 days of lots of sunshine, so we got to enjoy a BBQ each night as the coal and logs were already provided, we had a log fire every night too, we did nip to the food hall which is about a 10 min drive from the huts to get some meat for the BBQ and the pre made kebabs they do are so yummy! highly recommend and would def go back and there are also lots of shops a short drive away like Aldi, home bargains, morrisons etc, so we were never without anything we needed, the wildlife in the area is great, lots of birds and game we even had some close encounters with some hares being nosey at the hut one evening, there is also a lot to explore in the area and you're not far at all from the rest of the lakes but if you don't feel like exploring and you just want to relax by your own private river, then this is the place for you!Lastly I just want to thank our Wonderful host Christine, she was fabulous...nothing was too much troubleWe Will definitely be returning soon as soon as we can :)

Comfortable and cosy accommodation in a wonderfully quiet and relaxing location. The shepherd hut was well-located to explore the Lake District and had everything needed for a relaxing stay. The hut is well-decorated, and the welcome package was very appreciated!
