New Kent Road Car Park

My first and last experience using this car park. As other people have said, the parking spaces are too small. I do not have a big car, but due to the position of the columns, it is necessary to reverse into a space, only to then find it is difficult to get out of the car, due to the pillars in the way. It also means waiting while drivers try and reverse into the spaces. I dont know how any one with mobility issues would manage. It just seems that a maximum number of parking spaces have been placed in the minimum space. I have never seen a car park as bad at this.

My preferred car park because it is direct access to the Maltings. Yes, parking can be difficult due to the columns, but not impossible. Providing other drivers park properly and in the white lines, you can get in and out of your own vehicle fine. All depends on the size of your car and how much space you actually need to get out. As well as how you choose to park. I reverse park and go as far back as I can behind the columns, to enable me to open my car door. But there's several floors, so if you don't like one space, just drive on, you will find a more suitable space for you and your cars needs. Ground floor is direct street level to the maltings, so that gets filled quickly.

Standard multi storey car park. The spaces next to the columns are tight as with any other concrete multi. Looks like it has had a refurbishment fairly recently and pay stations take card which is a bonus. As I'm not from around st Albans there are a number of exits so needed to make note of where I had parked as it is a big car park.

Convenient but the spaces are very tight, especially next to the numerous pillars. If you're not a confident Parker, you may want to try elsewhere.

When returning to your car: go to Ground Floor entrance in The Maltings to pay for your stay for an uninterrupted exit.Perhaps the design of the car park didn't anticipate large SUVs parked by its *support beams, besides that it's in a convenient location with easy access to town.*There are multiple support beam parking bays which intrude in-between 2 parking bays at once.£2 for an hour is pretty great too if you just need to get something done quickly.

I cannot imagine why you would design a car park like this. The pillars make all the spaces too small, and you cannot open your doors because the pillars are in the door line. Genius.To top it off, nice low hidden curb by the exit barrier meant i curbed a rim and damaged the side wall of my tyre. So £1 parking turned into at least £400 of damage.

Probably could do with spaces being a bit bigger for larger cars.But it's still my favourite go to car park in St Albans Town

Many space but it is tiny. If there are car parking next to you, it is hard to open the door!!

Spent a most stressful half hour trying to fit my car into a space that had pillars in the actual car parking space. Don’t come here unless you drive a motorbike or a very very very tiny car (even a mini may struggle… so really… something very very very small). PS: And even if you can fit in the space, forget about trying to open your door and climb out!

Impossible to park in most of the spaces if you have a large family car (not even an SUV) thanks to the pillars, and there's barely room to maneuver around the corners. My car physically does not fit within the lines despite parking very precisely and I still couldn't open the passenger door thanks to the pillars, had to reverse out to let the passenger out and in. Literally used 15 minutes of an hour's parking time on finding a space and parking the car.Just park at the Civic Centre and brave the rain. It's also an old concrete multi-storey yet it accommodates large cars and vans just fine.
