Very poor service from SMG Croydon.I took my VW Caddy in to get a routing break service done. It was originally booked in for both brake discs and pads.Dropped the van in to get the service completed, then at around mid day Paul the service manager called me to tell me that they could only do the pads and that the discs are fine and don’t require a replacement, I asked him if he is 100% sure due to the old pads being on the metal he said they will be fine and there is no need to replace them.When I picked the van up all seemed fine I then drove it home, soon as I got home the parking brake would not engage and it came up with an error (seen below). I had a busy week so I couldn’t take it back until the next week.Later in the week I was on a A road going about 60mph, the brakes started making a horrible noise and they were coming on by them self on the front axel.After almost crashing the van I took it to a local VW specialist who looked at the front drivers side and noticed the pad return spring wasn’t installed correctly.I called SMG again and I told them the vehicle will have to be recovered.After arranging recovery the van was picked up and sent to SMG.They then had the van for numerous weeks due to me going on holiday. They had apparently fixed the issue, inspected it and then took it on a long test drive and deemed the vehicle to be safe.A few weeks later the same issue persisted so in the end the van had to go to another garage to get the brake pads and discs changed.I never received an apology from anyone at SMG and I am genuinely shocked at the treatment.Very poor and unhelpful service from SMG.And I definitely will not be returning.

Today was the 1st time in 6 years I have been coming to get an mot & service & always pleasant customer service with the staff & helpful. Today the lady at the reception was very unhelpful, abrupt, & not nice at all. Will be put off to come here in future, but hope not & can't see her lasting long.

Bought the van three years ago new that was the easy bit. Forget the three year warranty. They never phone back waited eight months for parts then they fit them to another van then forget to order them again.when you do get them they don't work. service department Shocking won't be going back.

Great place to have your VW caravelle services or fixed. We had an issue with a previous garage not doing the work correctly and we had to take it to VW. They were able to undo all the mistakes made by the previous garage and fix the problem. We had been going backwards and forwards for over a year to the old garage to try fix the problem. We are very grateful

Always such a pleasant experience when visiting SMG. Nothing is ever too much trouble and that is why I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else for anything to do with my vehicles. Extremely knowledgable in all departments. 5 stars is not enough in my opinion.

No value for money here and they really don't care about their customers (or maybe just us, a small business with 3 of their vans). We've been working with these guys for 7 years now so this is not a one off irritation. They used to be ok, we thought, but now we would not recommend going to this place, unless you feel like poor service with a shocking price tag. Sales department: the service is non existent these days. Ordered a 4th van from them in November 2021... we are STILL waiting (it's now Feb'23)!! We NEVER hear from them, have to chase and chase, every time we call for an update we get excuses. Service department: customer service is ok (was bad for a long time) BUT 8-10 week wait time to book a service (uhh, what if my van needs fixing now? Tough!) and the service costs are a JOKE, might as well have a fleet of Range Rovers. They recently charged us £1700 to replace an ignition barrel (which should surely never happen in 6yr old vehicle!?). They mark all issues as red" so you think your vehicle is falling apart. I appreciate Alan Day - Southern Motor Group. They give me and my van a premium service - every time. The staff are friendly and very helpful! They even washed my van! I rate them highly! Thank you everyone for making my service and MOT a simple and enjoyable experience.

Tried to book the van in for a diagnostic check 3 week wait yet the check would only take approx 2 hours dissapointing

Booked my van for a while you wait service. Arrived at the service reception just after 8am. Its now 11am and now real update. When asking at the desk for an update just been told that my van takes ages as its electric for a service. He also said he would not of booked it for a while you wait service.

I can't seem to write a separate review about the carpet work I had done so I will add it here and yes a excellent job done by the dealer all sorted out by Steve Munday I don't know the person's name who did the carpet it was excellent I am well happy and would use them again and I would recommend them highly so a big thanks to all the team. I have bought 2transporter vans from Southern motor group Croydon and all the staff there are excellent from front desk to sales staff and the service department staff and I would recommend this dealer.
