Cat Lighting - Lighting Design St Andrews

I am currently nearing the end of a major renovation and was recommended Clare at Cat Lighting. I enlisted her services early on during the build process which was great as she could see everything raw and used her creativity to work up a plan from there. She encouraged ideas like floor lights, which I would never have thought of, and the importance of doing this early before the concrete screed was poured. She then designed a whole ground floor plan, being very mindful of my budget, and presented it to me as a power point explaining all her ideas and options. She had really thought about everything and was so personable and enthusiastic about light!We worked the plan back and forward until we were happy with it- she really cleverly layered different circuits of light in my kitchen so there are options for mood or task lighting which I know will be functional and beautiful. Finally she also provided me with a table of what lights to buy for where and that was amazing.It was a huge relief to have this job done for me as there are so many decisions to make during a renovation and I knew lighting was important but didn’t know where to even start!I can’t wait to ‘turn the lights on’ in a month’s time. Clare was a pleasure to work with and being a fresh pair of eyes came up with some wonderful solutions to lighten up a rather dark and dingy hall, corridor and cloakroom. She managed the whole process and made it all as painless as possible for me. I would not hesitate to recommend her – and in fact have done so already to others.

Clare helped me with an outbuilding conversion at the building warrant stage. Our particular challenge was creating defined areas in an open plan kitchen, dining and living area and we were keen to keep to a tight budget.During the site visit, Clare asked lots of questions about how we planned to use the space, lay out furniture and place special pieces and pictures. She was very good at listening to our ideas and bouncing ideas around to develop them.Her report was based on floor plans and inspiring images that she presented room by room on her computer. It really brought her suggestions to life and helped me imagine how we could enhance the space.Clare is very personable and customer focused. Her mission is to suggest lighting solutions that her customers will love, not foist her ideas on a project. I’d have no hesitation in recommending her services.

Clare at Cat Lighting came to give me some ideas to brighten up my home office; I realise now I was working in the dark! Her attention to detail, flexibility and can-do manner has resulted in a beautifully warm happy workspace that I look forward to being in everyday. Our new house needed a new kitchen, the kitchen was to be re-sited as part of an open plan lounge come kitchen diner and I needed lighting to define the three separate areas. It is also the only public room we have so it had to be right. I was working full time, feeling swamped by all the decisions I had to make and had no idea where to start so I asked Clare and Cat Lighting to help.We had an initial consultation where we discussed the proposed kitchen plans and layout and how I envisaged using the areas. Clare took measurements and photos of the room and put together a series of very detailed plans with suggestions of what could be done by layering task and mood lighting to make the separate areas work for us. She then met with me to discuss the plans, tweaked them where necessary, suggested different light fittings and showed me what they would look like in situ. She then arranged to meet with my electrician to go over the plans and make sure everything was in order before we started the kitchen fit.She was again on hand to advise on the installation of the lovely little Levello ceiling lights with the electrician as they needed a special saw to cut the holes and she provided advice on the right light bulbs to use, believe me this makes a huge difference!We have now finally finished and it really is a rather special space to be in at all times of the day and night thanks to Clare and Cat Lighting. I cannot recommend her services highly enough. Her professional help and advice has been invaluable at every turn and has helped me create the room of my dreams. Cat Lighting redesigned our kitchen lighting for us and I cannot say how pleased we are. It has turned our kitchen into a much more user friendly space that is more welcoming than previously. Some simple but effective ideas have transformed the kitchen into a real living space. We have fallen in love with our kitchen all over again!
