John Dennis 4x4

Disappointed with my latest experience with John Dennis. Car was returned to me after a service and cam belt change with white grease sprayed all over the engine bay like a mechanics tribute to Jackson Pollock. One week after the car was returned it broke down with a failed alternator (which was also covered with grease), a strange coincidence in my book, but not according to John Dennis “Any electrical unit can fail at any time” was their response. After John Dennis then replaced the faulty alternator I was told when collecting the vehicle that the white grease couldn’t have been done by them as they “don’t use that type of grease”, after following up, the story then changed to “We don’t use white grease any were apart from wheel hubs and under tray fixings”. I’m certain that when the car when in for it’s service the engine bay was clean as I had to jump start another vehicle a few months before. I asked if they could confirm the grease was there before they did service to which I was told “it might have had white grease when he serviced it but can’t say 100% as he has serviced many cars since”. Now I’m not sure how many cars he could have serviced in a week, but I would say the engine bay was pretty memorable. Either way I’m shocked that a reputable garage would either not clean away the grease as part of the service if it was there, or indeed try and conceal the fact someone could have made an error which cost me £593.88.

After calling around 6 local LR approved service garages with all only willing to help me in 2 weeks time. I called up John and he said bring it in as soon as you can for a diagnostic. Dropped the car off and picked it up a few hours later fixed updated software cleaned and back on the road. John was honest friendly and the workshop is immaculate which In my books says everything about a business. He is organised and really professional. Very nice clean waiting area too. I won’t take my LR anywhere else from now on. I would highly recommend.

I have used John Dennis 4x4 services for approximately 6 years at the time of this review and the team have carried out repairs and servicing for my Land Rover Freelander II. Unfortunately, due to the expansion of the ULEZ, it has become unfeasible to maintain the vehicle going forward, however I did want to write a short review to stress to anyone looking for a garage, what an incredible place this is. Throughout the ownership of my vehicle, other than one urgent tyre change, all work that has needed to be done has been completed at John Dennis. The customer service provided has always been exemplary, costs are explained and an obvious attention to detail is always present. The entire team, from the support staff to the various mechanics have been brilliant to work with and communicate with over the years, everyone just seems to go out of there way to be as accommodating as possible. If you are looking for a garage, this is the place to go.

A one stop Land Rover expert for all your rover troubles. Been there this week with my friends’ car which was in trouble with inter cooler leak. Got an appointment straight away and got it fixed in couple of hours. The service charge is reasonable and you get a very professional service.There is a beautiful waiting lounge decorated with Land Rover miniatures and autographs collected with cozy chairs, TV and some auto magazines. Didn’t see any toilets around and a coffee machine but don’t know if it is only for staff use or broken.

Car taken in for general service plus fault diagnostics on water leak, faulty camera and sat nav .All works were completed quickly with an exceptionally high level of quality, both from a mechanical/technical perspective and overall customer service.Very impressed with the service received and highly recommended

I've used John Dennis on a number of occasions now for work I've been unable to complete myself and can't fault them for service. Professional, polite and helpful. Would recommend for anyone needing work done on their Land Rover.
