Matrix Martial Arts

I joined Matrix as a way to get fit, I never saw myself doing martial arts. Two years later I am the fittest I have ever been and have learnt new skills in kickboxing, grappling and self defence and made some great new friends along the way.Sensei Jake is a world class, skilled coach - and extremely encouraging which was really important for me, especially at the start when my confidence was low.There are so many classes to choose from now, for all abilities but really it doesn’t matter as the whole club has the same ethos - friendly, encouraging and keen to help everyone progress whether you’re looking to compete, become a black belt or like me to get fit and learn a new skill with some awesome people!

I have visited Matrix Martial Arts on two occasions, each a year apart, when I was holidaying in Spain.The last visit was August 2023 when I visited with the whole family, including my wife, my daughter aged 9 and the boy aged 6 as we all train BJJ in the UK.Steve is not only incredibly welcoming but an extremely good coach.Even during an open mat session he spent time with us patiently giving us his input.Whether complete beginner or experienced grappler you will not only be made to feel very welcome but you will come away having learnt something.I look forward to future visits. I've been training at Matrix for a couple of months now and it's been so much fun! Firstly sensei Jake, is a fantastic teacher who has such an intense passion for martial arts. His passion really shines through whilst teaching and seeing his students progress.Secondly the members are all so welcoming and friendly. Matrix really is a safe environment for learning, and getting that 1% better every class.

I have been attending Matrix for a year now and every class is fantastic. Sensei’s Jake and Jackie are fantastic and encouraging. I recommend anyone to give it a try because it really has been a game changer for my fitness and confidence levels!

Myself and my son have trained at Matrix Martial Arts since the end of lockdown, Whenever I attend any of the classes I always come away feeling well-exercised, more flexible, stronger and had fun with a great bunch of people, and friendly instructors who deliver clear, concise & effective instruction.My son started when he was 12 and has recently progressed to his 3rd Brown in freestyle,he has also been accepted to take part in Cadet instructors training and has achieved several recognized qualifications as a result, whilst gaining key life skills on and off the Mats.Matrix has something for everyone at every level and I would highly recommend Matrix Martial Arts to anyone.

Highly recommended. Sensei Jake is an outstanding teacher and passionate about not only what he teaches, but genuinely cares about the well being of all his students. He has been teaching my son now for over 7 years and he has done an amazing job. I also started training 18 months ago and this has now become my new passion this just goes to show you can start at any age. The new unit is a great training facility and Matrix feels very much like a family and a place you want to train and bring your children too. Training is always fun and enjoyable, but that does not mean that you won’t be pushed hard to become better and fitter as Sensei Jake is serious about helping you to achieve whatever goals you have from general fitness through to competing.A very safe, controlled and professional environment for all men, women and children at any age to start their MMA journey.

My daughter was initially nervous joining for the first time but Sensei Jake made her feel welcome and part of the group. He is a fantastic instructor with lots of knowledge and skill. The kids really respect him and the club is organised and inclusive. Sessions are fun, practical and to quote my daughter I love this club it makes me feel brave and mighty" Definitely 5 stars will be returning."

Been going since July 22 and daughter joined October 22. A welcoming and safe space to learn new things - Kickboxing, Grappling / Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defence. Caters for all ages and abilities with great facilities and has a real family feel to it.Definitely worth a try!

Matrix is a fantastic club and would highly recommend it to anyone whether you’re new to martial arts or highly experienced, there will be training great for you! The members are very friendly and you’ll feel at home from your first session.Jake is a world class coach and you can count on him to help you achieve your goals whatever they may be!
