Tees Cottage Pumping Station
Very interesting place, very helpful staff. The fellows running the boiler round the back had some much knowledge. If you like steam and engine stuff this is really worth a visit.

Absolutely fantastic place to visit on a weekend the engines are running. You can have a good look round and see alot of the beam engine. The volunteers are happy to help with any questions and there is a guide book to help too. Europes largest gas powered steam enging still in situ and working. Miniature railway and blacksmith on site to to look at. Cafe and toilets and a nice museum with an introduction to the site. See the website for running dates. Definitely worth a second visit

We adored our visit here during Easter, everyone was so friendly & informative, it was so relaxing walking through the rooms & all the engines are magnificent.Love the history, the boiler room, the miniature railway. Everything was amazing.2 Adults for £10, there are toilets & a tea house also. Definitely a must if in Darlington.About half and hour walk from town but there are buses that go there also & taxi's too.

Luck would have it that it was a rare summers day and the place was open for the weekend. Interesting to find out about the big machinery and how it stopped people from dying of cholera in Darlington in the past

Visited the last open day of the year on Sunday. Local place with lots of history and the volunteers are so enthusiastic about the upkeep of the place, if your into history or engineering most definitely worth a visit, still worth a visit even if your not Victorian architecture in the beam house was amazing

Extremely knowledgeable staff and a friendly welcome. The engineering is something to behold. Fascinating to think that this engineering was developed ove 100 years ago and is still operational. Very worthwhile place to visit for all ages. Next open day is 2nd and 3rd September 2023.
