Avis Car Hire - Southampton Airport

Avis Southampton Airport is particularly good for efficient service and always helpful. I have used them many times over the years and have never had an issue with anything.The team there are great examples of customer service at its best. Thank you.

Car was exactly as described. It was ready and waiting, easy to find and at a reasonable price. Return was just as quick with a friendly helpful service assistant waiting and answered all my questions. Couldn’t ask for a better service. Thank you.

Pick up was quick and easy but that's where it ended. Vehicle had loads of unrecorded damage so I was told to just take photos, during the hire I continually got a flat tyre alert due to a faulty sensor meaning I kept having to stop and check, on return the process was unclear, no one was around and no one answered the out of hours phone, after the return it was then claimed I had damaged the car without them giving any clear evidence and despite me having photos / videos showing condition of car beforehand and afterwards. I suspect this is an insurance scam.

Great experience online and in person with the team. They were very helpful. The car was lovely and clean and very nice to drive.The car had a slight issue but when I discussed with the team they said they would investigate and filled me with ease that the issue would be rectified for the next person.Return of the car was simple. All charges were explained at the beginning of the rental clearly.

I had been put off Budget by all the negative reviews on Google, so was anxious about hiring from them, however the price was incomparable - really good value that no other company was able to come close to matching, so I read everything carefully and hoped for the best. I hired a car for a month from the Southampton Airport venue, which is easy to access and a nice, quiet location.The hiring process was straightforward and there were no hidden fees, minimum paperwork and faff. I booked online and all charges plus any extras I was selecting and paying for were clear and easy to understand. Pick up was really easy too, I did get a much bigger car than I was expecting and had to google how to take the handbrake off, but other than that there were no hiccups.It would have been beneficial if I'd have asked/ been told where to drop the car off at the end of the hire period (or if it was better signposted from the road), but I found it eventually and the return agent was particularly pleasant and helpful- she gave the car a quick check over, took my electronic signature (confirming no extra charges) and I was on my way.I'll definitely use Budget again and have already been recommending them.

Very good customer service, quality and reliability that you can count on with AVIS. We received an unexpected vehicle upgrade and fast and easy pick up at Southampton Airport and drop off at Heathrow.

At your own risk - I do not recommend.I rented a car, and not even 30 minutes after, the clutch went out at a stoplight and wouldn't come back up. I missed an appointment and had to pay a no show full-price fee and then had to Uber back to the rental agency. The desk attendant became demeaning and told me I would have to pay for an upgrade to have a car without a clutch (I didn't want to risk another one breaking). He refused to compensate me for all the trouble. When I told him he sold me a defective product, he replied, we'll see" which was basically calling it my fault and later indicated that if it was my fault

My car from Avis broke down and the assistance line said i need to contact Southampton Branch to arrange for repairs. Southampton branch don't answer their phone. The standard customer service line advises you to call the Southampton number after the general line is closed at 1630 as they will pick up locally then rather than hope everyone calls the general line. What a diabolical service from a diabolical company. Still no closer to getting this car fixed and returned which they are all to happy to keep charging me for.

Review of Avis Car Rental - Southampton Airport BranchI recently collected a hire car from the Southampton Airport branch of Avis on Thursday, the 6th of July. While the initial upgrade to a Skoda Octavia automatic was a pleasant surprise, my overall experience with the vehicle and its presentation left much to be desired.Upon arriving at the Avis desk, I was informed by the agent that I had been upgraded, which was a nice gesture. However, the agent also pointed out that there were a few minor imperfections with the vehicle, such as small dents and scratches. I appreciated the transparency, as it's important to be aware of any pre-existing damages.Unfortunately, when I reached the vehicle, I noticed significant dents and scratches on the driver-side. These were far more noticeable and concerning than the minor imperfections mentioned earlier. It was disappointing to see such obvious damages, as it made me question the overall maintenance and care of the vehicle.Moreover, the rear of the vehicle had not been cleaned properly. It was evident that it hadn't received the attention it should have before being rented out. This lack of cleanliness made me question the general upkeep and standards of Avis in maintaining their fleet.Additionally, during the rental period, I encountered an issue with the cruise control function. Despite my attempts to select it, the feature failed to work. This was inconvenient and impacted my driving experience, as cruise control is a valuable feature, especially during long journeys. It would have been appreciated if the vehicle had been thoroughly checked to ensure all functions were in proper working order before being rented out.Overall, I am not satisfied with the quality of the vehicle or its presentation. The significant dents and scratches on the driver-side, the lack of cleanliness at the rear, and the malfunctioning cruise control function were all disappointments. As a customer, I expected a higher level of vehicle maintenance and presentation from a reputable car rental company like Avis. Improvements in these areas would greatly enhance the customer experience and satisfaction.
