Bodowyr Burial Chamber

Small burial chamber in the middle of a field. Parking in small layby.

Basic information on site. Roadside parking. Access through a kissing gate and over open field. When visited there were sheep, with lambs, present. Chamber itself surrounded by metal fencing.

A beautiful little dolmen in an area rich in Neolithic sites. Just around the corner from the better known Bryn Celli Ddu, it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.Distinctive mostly by its mushroom shaped capstone, it's thought to be around 5000 years old. It's commonly theorised that sites like this would have been covered in a mound of earth and rocks, to form a passage grave or portal burial chamber. However, there is growing belief that many sites were in fact originally a free standing structure, some of which were then covered over hundreds of years later.Free access and parking, only a short walk over a level field, stunning views of the surrounding area of natural beauty.

Nice example good parking but please remember access via farmer field please be respectful. On last visit masks on ground in field. KEEP THE COUNTRYSIDE CLEAN. Luckily had pickup tool and bag in car.

National Cycle Route 8 has so much to see literally alongside the route. Here it's a Neolithic burial chamber, A few miles away at RAF Valley it's an Iron Age Votive Hoard

Another lovely burial chamber This one has a fence around it tho to prevent live stock mainly sheep from going into / under the monument itself.

Bodowyr Burial Chamber (Cromlech)Erected in the Neolithic period for the communal burial of the dead.This Cromlech has a gentle and unassuming quality. The wind literally whipped and howled across the land here.

Great spot lovely views of yr wydffa...

Neat to think about what it is. Needs some plaques and maybe a better way to visit. We got terribly muddy trying to see it.

A beautiful burial chamber surrounded by some stunning scenery.The Bodowyr Burial Chamber, Rhosyr is located in a small fenced off area in a farmers field. Parking is available in a layby on the road. Access to the site is through a gate and a very short walk.Well worth a trip to see while travelling around Anglesey.
