Fabulous site with amazing terrace gardens. Would recommend aiming to get there for opening or end of the day as a popular attraction for tour buses. While garden does have step free access, worth noting that the alternative route round is alot longer and requires more looping back and forth.

Visited using our free national trust pass. Well thought the it was very well maintained. Guides inside were very informative and easy to talk to and ask questions. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so we missed out the gardens as it was very overcast and mizzle. We both had some food in the cafe which was lovely too.

I absolutely loved it here. The castle interior is gorgeous with beautiful painted ceilings and stairway. The museum has lots of interesting treasures from India. The staff are very pleasant and very knowledgeable. They take the time to give a talk about the history of the castle and the past families that have resided there. The gardens are extensive and are immaculately kept. Even though it's now Autumn, there were still lots of colours with dahlias, fuchsias, and cottage garden plants. The yew tree topiary is fascinating and the lawns very green and well looked after. The gardeners work very to keep it looking so nice.Next year, I will visit late spring, early summer as the Rhododendrons will be in flower. This place is definately worth a visit

Beautiful castle and Stunning gardens set within a magnificent landscape. The gardens I found particularly impressive, especially the yew topiary. The guides and staff were great-friendly,approachable and helpful.Plenty of parking with an uphill walk to get to the property. Many thanks for a lovely day.

What a beautiful place to come and see. Although it was quite cloudy and drizzly, the views were still stunning. The gardens are the best kept I have ever seen at a NT property. Faultless, beautiful, lush, colourful, clean, and weed free. Total respect and thanks for the team of gardeners that must work tirelessly to keep the gardens in such outstanding conditions.Inside the castle, you are not permitted to take photos. The rooms are quite dark, but there is so much to protect from the sunlight. The painted walls and ceilings are breathtaking. There was so much to look at, and the volunteers were very knowledgeable when questions were asked.I could write so much more, but honestly, you just need to visit to see for yourself!

If you are in Central Wales then I would recommend a visit. The castle is historically interesting with some superb views across the valley. However, the icing on the cake is the garden which is magnificent. If you like topiary then the main hedges are something to behold and the rose gardens are glorious. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful gardens and Castle. No photography can be taken inside due to them all belonging to the current Earl. The volunteers friendly and full of information on their areas of the buildings. Cafe gets very busy, also a nice shop, toilets in a separate building and peacocks! It was raining when I visited but that made the autumnal colours striking, pumpkins around the gardens for kids fun. Lovely to wander round the gardens, though it shut at 4pm so missed a few places. Photograph the map on entry! The herd of deer where out in the rain but I was too soggy to look round there area, no dogs allowed there but allowed in the gardens

One of the best, if not the best National Trust gardens we have visited. We had a glorious day, weather was great and we could take our dogs around the extensive gardens on leads which was great. Plenty of parking and picnic areas plus good facilities and café. The castle visit was interesting however the gardens and landscape was simply the best. So impressive and only 7 full time gardeners, amazing job.

Another lovely National Trust site, with the most amazing gardens! The work that must go into the garden maintenance is amazing, they are absolutely stunning. We visited in the autumn, just as the trees were changing colour - would highly recommend this time of year for those interested in photography.Very clearly signposted, and ample parking available. All the staff we spoke to were helpful and happy.Dog friendly site, which is always a bonus! Just be mindful that there are peacocks and peahens wandering around the grounds and courtyard areas.Lovely cafe on site, with a smaller tearoom available on the walk around the garden. Will definitely be returning!
