Low Wood Bay Watersports

Brilliant team here, views while kayaking were mind-bendingly beautiful. We went on a rainy grey day, but from the water it all looked like a dream - if you're on holiday in the Lakes and it's too rainy for hiking, I highly recommend Low Wood Bay watersports. Just don't forget to bring a towel!

Great if you are holidaymakers wanting to sail on Windermere, recommend these guys.- they have many sailing dinghys, keels too.- you can see availability on their website. I booked the day before- when you turn up, you can hire a wetsuit for £5, buoyancy aid is included. They have plenty of sizes.- changing room, shower, toilet is good- they rig the boat and launch for you, you don't have to do anything, luxury. They explain where everything is on the boat if you're unfamiliar.- finally the sailing on Windermere is amazing.

BEWARE OF PARKING CHARGES £48-80. Went in to ask for prices and looked at some boats on display and a nice one was for sale anyway we were 20 min. 12 days later , very clever by the way, I gets a fine of £48 if I pay in 14 days, if not it will be £80 . I've seen nothing displayed. Scam in it self.

We hired kayaks and wet suits. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend

Came here last weekend and hired a single kayak for 4 hours at £40, not the cheapest but also not the most expensive so no issues here. We also took our own double kayak and a paddleboard as there were 4 of us in total. As we were about to set off I came on google to get the postcode and scrolled through a few reviews where I happened to notice someone mention a self launch fee of £35 per vessel! I was shocked, I have never ever seen a self launch fee this expensive!! I called low wood bay to check as surely this isn’t correct… they advised me yes it’s £35 per boat, I asked to cancel then as that is ridiculous and they simply replied “no” we were stuck then; we either go somewhere free or cheaper for self launch and 1 person gets left ashore, we continue with the hire and then 3 people are left ashore or we bend over and pay the price. Unfortunately with our day planned and a 4 hour round trip we were stuck with having to pay the price… £110 in total, we could have bought a new Paddleboard at that price. Not to mention they told us we had to be back by 5pm in our own vessels?!?!? I completely understand the hired kayak needed to be back by it’s designated time but our own boats…when we paid £35 EACH for mere seconds at the waters edge!! Lesson learnt, staff were so rude, will not be returning. PS 3 mins down the road at Brockhole pier it is free to self launch, they also have a lovely cafe and further South of Windermere is Ferry Nab, again FREE and Low wood bay think they can charge £35 each!!

We booked a Pedalo and a kayak for our family and had an absolutely fantastic afternoon, the prices were very reasonable and the staff were lovely, would highly recommend everyone goes here, I promise you won't regret it!

Went paddleboarding and kayaking with them. Got 2 hours out on the water. Had no previous experience of paddleboarding and the short instructions meant that we could get the hang of things quickly and really make the most of our time on the water. Really friendly and welcoming staff

We had a fantastic time kayaking on the lake. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We had to cancel the original booking due to thunderstorms and they were helpful at getting it canceled so we could rebook the following week. Easy to contact by phone or email.

Perfect place to hire a kayak. Great family fun. And if you are mental like us, you can even take your dog too. However you will need your own dog life vest. And if I'm honest it didn't make it any more enjoyable.
