Much improved since the big refit. The store is clean and well organised with nice wide aisles. Self serve checkouts available as well as standard checkouts. Lovely friendly and helpful staff.

Perfect store. Not too big but still lots of options in produce, grocery, domestic etc. Am part of the loyalty scheme which accrues money rather than tokens. Free parking - car park has good access and a lot of spaces including disabled and parent/child. Store has bonus of Amazon pickup lockers

This recently renovated co-op store has most of my essential food shop needs from fresh fruit and veg to cupboardy foods. I was very disappointed upon today's visit to see during the renovation that the gluten free aisle has been reduced to the smallest end of an aisle, a great shame as their Free From foods at co-op has growing in recent times. I can also say that there is no Free From frozen foods either. A real shame. However, I do recommend this for fresh veggie foods as they stock Tofoo, Cauldron and Vegetarian Butcher as well as their own Gro range.

They generally have stock and I don't need to get substitutions. It can be expensive, but it is accessible and they have many GF varieties. Plus the staff are always helpful and willing.

Co op Southend Is ok altho small and isolating. It feels uncomfortable to be their because when using the self checkouts the staff can allways be behind your back staring. Theirs allways a middle aged staff member allways speed running around the place staring at customers and checking them out for what they got which is even more uncomfortable. Some of the staff are nice and helpful. With a large smile which is joyful to say the least.I gave it a 3 star because its a nice clean place with happy staff altho it feels clusterd, isolated and uncomfortable especially that middle aged staff member.

Speaking as someone who worked in this store for two and a half years.Honestly the store itself isn't terrible, it's small but if your only looking for purely food then you'll find admittedly overpriced but good quality food, staff are alright I worked with most of them for a while and they are quite friendly and do their best to help customers. The biggest problems of the store are the shoplifters and the managers, shoplifters are incredibly rampant in the store, on average the place Gems about three or four a day, some threaten the staff and sometimes managers attempt to chase them out the store. Security guards in there aren't properly trained and I witnessed one incident where a security guard and a shoplifter got involved in a fight scaring a number of customers and one child and mother that were there at the time. I've also been asked a number of times to stand on the door to stop shoplifters which goes against what we are taught to do when confronted by shoplifters...There was also an occasion where three people including myself caught Covid-19 and despite several customers also becoming infected, they refused to close the store and while this is only personal opinion, I don't feel like anyone contacted head office. While there are good few there that are great managers, most of them there are either lies or bullies. One manager regularly lied to me about my schedule changing it routinely behind my back, lied to me about their status and position within the store, and lied to me about their paychecks which I'd just like to say I never even asked about...Another manager repeatedly argued with me about my break, and would complain about employees either to them or to others whenever they would go sick. As well as complain about two other managers (one was pregnant at the time, the other had a child) about the amount of time they had off, and the special treatment they needed. And lastly the head manager at the time, he would regularly yell at employees when they weren't working fast enough (one of which was autistic) he would regularly reduce some employees to tears, when asked about it I remember him saying it wasn't his problem. And during a time in which I had injured myself, and was unable to properly work, I was made to work on the shop floor, when I was unable to work fast enough I was repeatedly yelled at, called an embarrassment" and "useless" honestly as a shop it's average as a place to work it's a death trap."

Good offers and layout. Not as much selection as used to be before the refurbishment. And unless on offer items are a bit more expensive than elsewhere. Handy but not amazing. Middle of range and although more aesthetically pleasing now it is now a worse shop for the refurb

This is a larger store. Light and airy to. Can be hit and miss at the checkouts when they are busy.A nice selection of foods and weekly bargains. Most items are stocked at this store.A free cash machine at the doors should you have the need for one.In store bakery is great. One thing missing is a selection of better specialties in the bread section.

As a former employee and customer, I can safely say that this place is poorly run and very unorganised. Not to mention that it has become very over priced (considering the poor quality of food that you get) I recently went in again since they did it up. Can't say I will be going back. Customers don't seem to realise that their is a pandemic going on and need to wear face masks and social distance. The store should be enforcing this.
