Atmosphere is nice by river but food was swimming in conflicting sauces, small portions, had a veg wellington and took over 40mins to arrive (it was premade puff, tomato soupy sauce and over vinaigrette salad served on top not to the side)... might be good stop for a leisurely lunch with multiple courses but was a poor choice for a family stop off on a long drive and left hungry to get back on road.

Loved it. Beautifully finished inside (men's toilets a little under par but more the contrast to how nice the rest of the place is).Reasonable price, I'd say good value considering how notably good quality the produce was. Beautiful sitting in the sun out by the stream. Staff were genuine, friendly and charming. Thank you

It's absolutely lovely here. It's been refurbished since our last visit. Lovely inside and out. Loads of seating outside where you listen to the stream and the birds, they also have awnings that can be put over. Comfy seats inside and the service is good and friendly. We had a roast dinner which was absolutely superb.

Popped in for an impromptu breakfast at the weekend (Saturday). Didn't have a booking but they were able to accommodate. I would suggest booking for a lunch or an evening meal though. We sat outside and it was very nice. We both had the full English, although there were no hash browns as they had run out. Good service and reasonable prices.

My new favourite gastro pub. Beautiful lamb celebrating a family birthday. Staff very friendly, efficient and attentive, even funny sparing with the cheeky kids. Lovely setting on a stream with outdoor dining for spring/summer and cosy country fire for autumn/winter. Enjoy it when you go.

Three of us popped in for lunch.Lovely location with the river Lambourn running past the seating area at the rear of the building. The building has a lot of character inside and out. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Nice diverse menu. Our only gripe really was that my wife's Fish and Chips were cooked well, but there was only half a piece of Fish! After reviewing the menu the other half may have been used for the Fish Curry. Other than that we had a pleasant dining experience and may return in the future.

Lovely place to visit, find this pub when visiting the local area. Staff were so friendly and polite, happy to have a conversation and recomend items. The food was very good and there was a relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely visit again when in the area.

This was a mixed bag. Like a mixed bag of nuts, you get some good and some terrible. Overall the experience was decent and you’ll be happy you went. But there’s a limited menu. The prices are high. The portions are small. The service was slow and we did feel a little forgotten. But this is countered by very friendly staff, exceptional food there is a labour of love and tastes incredible. I could eat there forever. So what do you want? Fine dining? You’ll be ok. Just be aware you might find better and more elsewhere.

Stopped for a bacon sandwich and coffee. Glad we did. Idyllic spot by the chalk stream and lovely people. Thank you.

We came for a Sunday lunch after being recommended. However, we were very disappointed by the quality of food for the price. The sirloin beef had more fat than meat and the Yorkshire pudding was dry. Veg was basic. We had expected it to be busy for a Sunday lunchtime however we were the only 2 in the dining room.
