Dunkery Beacon Country House

Great place to stay in Exmoor. Despite the weather we enjoyed staying here. Close to walks across the moor and easy to get to Minehead / Dunster if you want to. The breakfasts were fab. We will return!

What a find this place is. Not far from the beautiful medieval town of Dunster, this comfortable and classy hotel with stunning views over Exmoor is a perfect place to lay your head and enjoy some truly delicious home cooked but restaurant worthy food. There is a lot of attention to detail here to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We can highly recommend rooms 5 & 7 as being very spacious and comfortable with superb views. John is a real star in the kitchen and Jane runs front of house with a friendly and welcoming touch. We had a fabulous weekend and hope to return again in the future. Even if you don't stay, their restaurant The Coleridge is worth booking for dinner.

Smart Dress required.. Top quality restaurant.. 2nd visit when in minehead area... Gin n Tonic whilst reading menus in the lounge... 3 course menu was delightful... Jane and John really do what they do .. exceptionally well .. My wife had scallops and black pudding, and I had pigeon breast to start... Both were fab... For mains we both had Pheasant.. absolutely gorgeous.. It really is a hidden gem... Not quite sure what the relationship with Coleridge is... But it is certainly worth the trip. John can certainly cook... No questions, and Jane knows her wines... Fantastic partners.. we hope all works out for you both.. Mark n Tanya xxx

Fab stay. Great dinning and breakfast. Very well looked after. Owners and staff fantastic. Managed to upgrade. Absolutely a great base to use for exploring. Even get real milk in the room for your wake-up tea. Great, Great, Great.

Very nice hotel. Jane was an excellent host and couldn't do enough for us. Restaurant food was incredible. Views are amazing.

Just spent two nights b&b over the bank holiday weekend. The hotel is located in the most peaceful place we have ever been too . The scenery is stunning, loads of walking possibilities. We walked up to Dunkery Beacon, two and a half miles uphill (wear walking boots) did not meet a sole, just some grazing sheep. Views were breath taking. Also went to Dunster Beach and walked to Minehead along the beach, again very peaceful and serene. Jane was a lovely host, nothing is too much to ask. Lovely box full of coffee tea and biscuits in our room. Cold water and milk in the guests fridge. Room clean and ample storage with views from window. Power shower, comfy bed, yummy breakfasts. Would definitely go again to explore more walks on Exmoor and the coast. X

We had an excellent 4 night stay, very comfortable room and very pleasant proprietors Jane and John.Their restaurant is only open from Wednesday to Saturday so we decided to book a table for our last night -Thursday. The meal was incredible. It is no surprise they won Somerset Best Hotel Restaurant last year. We had eaten in two other restaurants which figured in the same competition but there was just no comparison. We will be back soon.

We had a fantastic stay here for a walking weekend. Andy and Tanya were incredibly hospitable, the hotel is so comfortable and welcoming, and the village has multiple footpaths going straight up on to the moorland, making it a perfect location.

Stunning accommodation, with the most friendly hosts! Our room has an incredible view and the location is nice and quiet.Very very nice home cooked breakfast with attention to detail with the locally sourced food, and even jams are from their garden/home picked.
