Having lost both my parents 4 days apart,peter has been utterly fantastic from collecting dad at 3am to retrieving mother from hospital,arranging everything from the registrar,the coffins,flowers,and even the wake and headstones and of course arranging for the lovely reverand tina to officiate.couldnt of wanted for better.many thanks from mia and claire for making a sad time so much more bearable

My mother died on Oct 24th 2020 after two very traumatic weeks in Hospital, so when choosing a Funeral Director, I was looking for someone who could guide me and my family through the whole procedure with as little stress as possible. From the very first telephone call with Sean Smith, I felt confident and comfortable as through his efficiency, patience, and kindness he showed me that he had everything under control at all times. The funeral was arranged locally and in these 'Covid' times (only a small amount of family were able to attend the funeral), Sean was able to source all my mum's favourite hymns, sung by various choirs and these were played at the funeral, filling the church with music (my mum would have loved it)! Sean spent hours on this task as he had to match all the music with the words in the 'Order of Service' (who knew that the same hymn could have so many versions)! We used a local Catholic Church but my mum wanted to be buried with my late father in Pickering, North Yorkshire and I thought that this would be a logistical nightmare! Once again Sean took all the worry from us and contacted the local council, gravedigger and local Catholic priest who officiated at the burial. Sean's thoughtfulness and kind attention to detail throughout the whole process was fantastic! My family and I would like to thank Sean and his colleagues for looking after my mum so well. They were professional and efficient throughout whilst being understanding and attending to every detail, I cannot recommend them enough!Teresa O'Hara--

Thank you all so much for the loving care you gave all of my family on the death of my Dad. Nothing was too much trouble. The respect given to Dad was just wonderful. I felt like I was the only client you had all through the arrangements and during the funeral. Sean was so reassuring, and the gentlemen who attended were so smart and Sean's wink at just the right moment gave me the strength to get through the service with decorum. I could not recommend Peter Smith & Son more highly. Sean made sure everything went smoothly for my mothers funeral with no added stress (unlike my fathers funeral which we entrusted to another local funeral director whose only interest was how much money they could drain from us) Nothing was too much for Sean and his team which made this harrowing time easier to cope with. A professional and caring service given with organising my Mums funeral recently and previously our baby daughters funeral. We highly recommend this family run directors , nothing was too much trouble for them, and the funeral went perfectly !! It also has a lovely new chapel of rest too which has a comforting environment.

Yesterday was my Mother's funeral 3rd April 2023 and I cannot recommend them enough.Everything was arranged when two days before the funeral I tested positive for Covid.At this time I was grieving, feeling ill and totally stressed.I contacted Peter Smith & Son, who took over the situation and rescheduled everything to a new date and time and within a couple of hours I could not believe it was all sorted. I don't know what I would have done without them.Yesterday on the rescheduled date and time, everything went like clockwork. Jason and the team, from Peter Smith & Son were totally professional and from the beginning I knew we were in safe hands. Wonderful service.
