Halfords Autocentre

Disappointed and furious, after booking and paying for 4 new tyres dropped my car at 10:30 as it was booked.They tell me it’s gonna take 2 hours, and after 1 hour I pass by and see they haven’t even moved my car. Cancelled the order and asked for a refund. It is very stupid they book you at a specific time and they start doing their work when they want. It’s not the first Halfords Autocentre than I have problems with and I won’t be coming back never again.

Took car to have MOT after having mot at another garage a week before and the car failing on just tge back breaks. Was told by halfords that it failed on ABS light and both front and back breaks disks and pads. My partner had changed the back disks and pads 2 days before and had broken the abs sensor (apprently).A joke of a service wanting us to pay for new back breaks when they where fitted only days before.Wouldn't go to the auto center again if they are going to try con people. As the work was going to be to much we had to sell the car. The person who bought it was a MOT tester himself and agreed that halfords had just tryed to draw money out of me. Wouldn't have sold the car if they had been honest. But was giving me so much stress I just gave up with trying to sort it.One less customer for them to con I suppose. Its a shame one area of halfords acts like this when the store staff are very nice and helpful.

Great service , there was a queue building up at the front tills . So a member of staff opened the till desk at the rear of the store . Well done nice clean store . Easy parking.

People are rude there, and charge me extra for the work.I got punctured front tyre on left side, and there are old tyres on rear, so I decided to buy 3 new tyres, get 2 new at front, and 1 for rear, at the same time moving the good right front tyre to rear passenger side. I explained what I need when arrived the centre, at the beginning the person at the centre said they cannot swap wheel, I explained again is swapping tyre not the wheel, after that he said alright and will get the works done per my request. However, when the job done I found that they keep the older rear passenger side tyre no change. I asked to do the swap again but they don’t want to. I explained again the right front was just half year old but the rear left was 5 years, so I want to keep using the newer tyre on all for wheels. Then they said need extra £20 and half an hour to do it. I am not quite sure why at the beginning they are not quoting me for this cost and said “alright” for my request. I paid to swap and wait them for 40mins to get the job done finally. By the way, when another company doing front tyre fitting for me earlier this year, they don’t charge me for the swapping tyre. Will not book this centre again for any works.

Appalled with the service here, me and my partner used their ‘free repairs check’ as every time we would be travelling over 60mph, the car would stop accelerating, which is obviously dangerous at that speed. My partner took his car here during work, told them the issue and also explained that if they were to do anything that needed payment, then to call him to confirm first. This is due to us currently being low on money. We had already taken out a diagnostic test and knew that it was something to do with cylinder 2 and 3, which we also explained to them. A few hours passed and they called my partner and explained his car was ready and that it was in ‘perfect’ health, apparently they did a diagnostic test and actually the ones we were seeing were false. They also explained they took it for a test drive at 30mph and the car was fine (considering we already explained the issue only happens at high speed) and they also demanded that we pay £60. My partner obviously told the staff member on the phone that we only wanted the free test and that the car clearly is not in good health because otherwise the issue would not be happening. We then told them we would not be paying for something we said we did not want. He then travelled to Halfords to pick up his car, to then be told he couldn’t have his keys until he had paid and after a long conversation he had the keys thrown at him and was told to ‘fuck off’. We have since taken his car to a trusted garage, to be told that it needed new spark plugs. We originally went to Halfords thinking we could trust them as a business, but clearly we were wrong. We will not be going back.

Exceptional friendliness and service from the young lady at the front desk. Despite being made to pressure sell work that ultimately didn’t need doing … thats not her fault.Just be cautious here and get a second opinion before paying for any extra work they recommend … they retreat and say ‘oh well it’s not that urgent’ after they’re pushed for more detail by someone who knows more about cars…

Went into the shop with an issue with my bike, Tom from upstairs was a godsend to helping me resolve it, even going out of his way to go and ask the technicians if they had a spare part needed for my bike. Great honest customer service.

Car booked in at 11.30 for clutch check (garage area too busy to park). Received a £40 fine in the post today for parking in the shop car park as car wasn't removed for the check in the garage area until 2pm!!! Also, was then clear that the phone call from auto centre to say my car had been checked was made only 3 minutes after being moved from the shop car park to the garage area. So a fine and a car which clearly was not checked! Couldn't make it up. Thieves and fraudsters. At least Lee was apologetic. Ben insisted on lying. Just hope the fine has been sorted as they've promised. Avoid at all costs!

Avoid, absolute con artists. Took my sons car there a few months ago, failed MOT and quoted nearly a grand for some simple repairs. Decided to do repairs ourselves at a fraction of the price, took in for retest and they then found more issues. MOT tester was incredibly rude and clearly his work was poor. Went elsewhere, passed no problem.

Absolutely terrible service here, avoid. I booked a windscreen chip repair a week in advance on their online booking system, drive 40 mins to be told there’s nothing on their system and I’d have to wait 2 hours if I wanted it done. No apology, no attempt at recourse or anything to compensate. I declined to rebook and will never use these guys again for anything. Completely unprofessional for such a large organisation.
